Awesome work guys! DAMN, I can't believe a freakin' YEAR has passed by already.
Anyways, my comic from last year ( here ) taught me a few valuable things.
1)At one page per hour, inking really beats the shit out of you. You have to divide your drawing time by half because you need the rest to ink and your drawing quality suffers from that , so yeah, all pencils this year.
2)Dialog is another huge time waster, specially for someone like me who cant fucking write, so dialog was out.
3)For the vast majority of the comic, its all either 3 panel layouts or splash pages ... this breaks a few rules sure, but it made me have to think less about panel layouts and more about what was actually IN THEM.
4)I'm a detail-aholic and last year my main guy had nice, blond flowing hair with projected shadows on the hair strands themselves ... fuck that, my main guy now wears a mask.
5)Finally, page size is smaller, the reason why this helps are obvious, theres less space in the paper to cover and its easier to fill with detail
Anyways, here ya go:
And heres some Concept Art I had done prior to the event (didn't know I was gonna use them, but I brought my sketchbook, saw them and figured to run with it)
Yeah, an absence of dialogue helped immensely in previous years, where I actually, like, finished and stuff. I thought I'd try something different this year and it sort of backfired.
As far as ink and preconceptualized characters, though... I guess I'm just old-fashioned.
