"By the end of his career, 35 broken bones put him in the Guinness World Records. And he went through an estimated 200 units of blood to help bring him back to life after countless crashes."
I guess it's better to go this way than dying in a failed jump over a exploding chasm filled with man-eating alligators which have also been rigged to explode
I could see him doing that at 80something.
"Fuck it, I'm dying soon anyway. Might as well do it right."
Wiki said he died of liver failure. Is that right, or was it something else?
I believe it was a combination of diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis.

If one could judge the folk heroes of the 1970s by walking a toy aisle, one would conclude that Knievel ranked among the giants: Muhammad Ali, the Six Million Dollar Man and Fonzie.
:^: FUCK YEA!
Truly one of the greatest Americans. He will be missed.
just reading his wiki article, and god damn he was a dick
He was a poor kid redneck who liked to do wheelies on his dirt bike who suddenly got rich for doing shit he would have done anyway, if only on a much larger scale.
Of course he was a dick.
I was literally depressed earlier, having heard this. Evel's an American icon, man... maybe it says something that all our icons were either slave-owners, criminals or drunken stunt-riders who threw their dick into anything with tits, but hey.
Just so the chaps across the big lake don't feel left out, apparently he was an English icon as well

"Evel Knievel was my biggest influence and inspiration as a kid growing up in the seventies and eighties. Some of my earliest memories are of leaning an old door up against a trash can and jumping my bike over the neighborhood kids who would lie on the road with their fingers crossed. I'm still riding and jumping, but now I have a little boy who, in honor of Evel, we named Logan Knievel King. I will tell him all about Evel when he is older. I can't wait to get his first bike and crash helmet. I'm sure he will love Evel in the same way I do."
I would say "Rest in Peace" but I severely doubt he enjoyed peacefulness. So I will simply say "Rest while on Fire and Jumping Sixty Stealth Bombers with a Motorcycle".
