I wasn't as fond of The Protector, though.
It seemed like the last fight was just him snapping everyone's limbs.
    I want some fucking variety.

i did muay thai for years

    even did it semi-professionally

    my friends knew about this

i'd shown off a little here and there, they were impressed

but i mean some of my friends are blackbelts in tae kwon do n shit, it's not like they were like "ooooooo aaaaaaaah"

i'd basically have to explain what muay thai is and why it is so brutal and awesome

then ong bak comes out and i don't need to explain anything anymore

"i used to do muay thai"
    "what's that?"
    "you ever seen ong bak?"
    "oh shiiiiiii"

Screw you buddy. They could have just shown that long ass unedited fight sequence and people would have gotten their money's worth.

Not saying it was bad, because it wasn't.
It just wasn't as great as Ong-Bak.
I knew I was watching greatness when people were getting thrown out of the tree in the beginning, and the camera shakes from the impact.

People who don't know what muay thai is are unfamiliar with the martial arts to a significant degree. Like, I'd expect, I dunno, my mother not to know what muay thai is. Or someone who's never watched a kickboxing match. Or played Street Fighter. Or Tekken. Or Fatal Fury.

Shit is it even legal in Japan to make an unarmed fighting game that doesn't have a muay thai character?

    it's funny

i used to a bit of breaking too

not a lot, i wasn't crazy into it

    but i've done a bit

the funny thing is it means a lot to people who don't know a fucking thing about martial arts

"oh, yeah, you did martial arts n stuff? cool. like, how many boards could you break?"
"i can shatter a cinder block with my bare hand"

    that is true

and they are like "whoa holy shit"

    thing is

smashing a cinder block is not that hard if you are trained well and know what you are doing

I can kick through a pine board that's been sawed down to an eighth of an inch thick while wearing shoes.

I know, I know, autograph line forms to the left.

And then I forget what I was pissed about because fuck I think I broke a toe.

the most impressive break i ever did isn't even a show of strength

it's more of a cool looking stunt

i once shattered six panes of glass with one punch

they were about half an inch apart each

they didn't snap like a board would, instead i just kinda put a hole in the middle

it looked fucking cool, because it was all like the force of my punch was carrying through the center and stuff

    but think about it

    i broke glass

    whoop dee fucking doo

I can also shatter the lid to one of those trash cans on the wall in school with a Powerade bottle that's mostly empty.
Not one of my proudest moments, but certainly one of my loudest.

you know what is a really impressive stunt to do

it looks cool and involves science

fill up a beer bottle about 3/4

has to be one with a long neck

grab it by the neck, preferably with a towel

    hold it over the sink

slap your open palm against the top of the bottle

the whole bottom of the bottle will just explode out

    physics!

The best thing about The Protector is after the dudes take his elephants, it set you up for a "small town boy searches to discover who the big town bad guys are" and then it cuts to the bad guys in that nice-ass apartment building or whatever...
    Spoiler:

    It was Excellent.
