I think in Australia we have a higher percentage of dedicated 2 fort servers, because I was looking at all the servers that I could refresh, and there didn't seem to be as many as we have, I mean GA alone has like 4 or 5 right?

So the speech in Max Payne doesn't work under Vista because Microsoft decided they didn't want to support Direct3D sound anymore. All proposed fixes are a no go apparently as Valve did not include the MAX-FX mod tools in the steam release and I can't use ALchemy because my laptop doesn't have a creative sound card.

Why do people do this shit?

Hey does anyone know why it takes Vista so long to open really large files? I'm trying to open a 4gb .exe and it's been like 30 minutes so far and it still has the loading mouse going.

I defrag every Wednesday. I double-clicked it, after about 10 minutes it asked for approval so I said ok and now it's just been going for so long.

I don't have that problem with large files so I don't think it can be attributed to it just being Vista. I'd recommend terminating the process and restarting your computer before trying again.

the problem is it's a terrible game. your computer obviously loves you and doesn't want to see you in pain.

alternatively do other CD-ROMs install properly, because if not then it might be an optical drive problem. otherwise there's a variety of things it could be.

It's not on a CD it's an executable from Direct2Drive and I don't think it's corrupted because it's worked for everyone else and I've downloaded it and then deleted it 3 times because I thought maybe the download was messed up.

could be a problem with your hard-drive, although if that's all that's fucked up probably not.
