Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Gang, I will be in LA in February and I am looking to buy a new laptop while there, so I need some advice. I am looking to spend $1,000-1,500 and am after something mid range but with a reasonable dedicated graphics card so it will perform ok with games. I am not American and this will be my first trip to the states.
1) Good retailers - Who should I be looking at? I don't necessarily care so much about staff that know their stuff (as I'll probably have a couple of models chosen before I get even close to the US), I just don't want to waste my time.
2) Tips/Tricks - Any big sales on in mid Feb? Things to watch out for etc?
3) Local taxes - Is it easy/possible to claim sales tax back at the border?
Oh and I am probably going for a Windows machine as I think it more likely i'll be able to get a good gaming machine. I've just had my ibook stolen and while I'd like another mac laptop I just don't think I can afford one that has a comparable gaming experience to the Windows selection in my price range.
