I wanted to like the concept, and go see the movie, cause it looked like this spooky movie with Jim Carey which is a pretty different sort of thing for him to do and I'm a big Carey fan, but the idea that some guy loses his mind because the number 23 shows up everywhere is pretty fucking retarded.

    IF YOU TAKE TODAY'S DATE

    24/12/07

AND YOU SUBTRACT THE YEAR FROM THE MONTH, YOU GET 5, RIGHT

THEN YOU SUBRACT THE FIRST DIGIT FROM THE DAY

    AND YOU GET 3

THEN YOU ADD THAT BACK TOO THE DAY

    AND YOU GET 27

    9/11/2001

    9+11+2+0+0+1=23"

    and the croud goes "ooooooooooo"

and I'm screaming at my TV "NO YOU FUCK YOU WEREN'T ADDING CONSISTENTLY YOU SHOULD HAVE EITHER ADDED 9+11+2001 (2021) OR YOU SHOULD'VE ADDED 9+1+1+2+0+0+1 (12) YOU ARE JUST CHANGING THE RULES TO SUIT THE OUT COME KIJSGBQIHBAJKXBX"

Yankovic has also put two backmasking messages into his songs. The first, in "Nature Trail to Hell", said "Satan Eats Cheez Whiz"; the second, in "I Remember Larry", said "Wow, you must have an awful lot of free time on your hands."

Outdated racist political cartoons are great. Anyone have the WW2-era one of how to tell Japanese facial features apart from Chinese ones? I also remember seeing this one of a dragon/octopus thing representing chinese communism spreading, it was pretty awesome.

You know what animal was used to represent Japan in political cartoons back before (and during) the Russo-Japanese war?

    An ant.

goatmon needs to give more examples of this "27" thing so I may judge her/him for it

He actually does put it in a lot of his songs

Yeah. Like the one you mentioned from hardware store. He did it in the polkamon song as well, in one lyric "Hold on a minute, there's still at least 127 more!"

Also, in his "lose yourself" parody, there's 27 beats before his lyrics deviate from the Eminem version.

Also in his videos, like "Like a Surgeon" the little number display in the waiting room goes from 26 to 27, the later he's going through patient after patient, and you see him go from patient 27 to 28.

On the cover of "Running With scissors" he's wearing the number 27.

There's plenty more, but this is just from my memory, I don't really feel like going to a website and pulling down a full list.

One of the neat coincidences is that the atomic weight of aluminum, whose symbol is AL, is approximately 27.

I liked that movie. I dont understand the hate.

I know its not a masterpiece, but its got some good scares and some genuinely creepy parts.

    Plus, you know, Mel Gibson.

No, not at all. All the 'scares' were just cheap jolts i.e. kinda tense scene, kinda tense scene...LOUD NOISE. The terrible over-reactions of the characters to the scary events just made it worse. Seriously, I remember the characters freaking out in terror in the scene you posted. Why the hell would they do that to something they see on TV? About halfway through the movie I have given up on the aliens being any sort of threat to anyone, so I stopped caring.

    sig_lambo.jpg
  • The_ScarabThe_Scarab Registered User regular
The alley thing with the alien was more of a 'BOO' scare.

The cornfield stuff was creepy for me.

And the news footage on TV. Especially when it stopped working.
