I remember reading the story were they broke up.
I want to say it was in X-men Unlimited but that doesn't really make sense.

He mentioned Norman specifically, but that doesn't rule out Venom involvement.

I was under the impression they were more clones of Parker since Iron Man was able to get everything from him when Parker used the Iron Spider costume. It makes more sense for Parkers clones to be in the suits than MVP ones, the clones did appear pretty darn quick after MVP was killed, can they be cloned that fast.

Ah yes your right, I went and got the issue to check and just read it myself. My mistake.
they say they will be switching it up though so the same writers/artists aren't always on the same month. Also supposedly JRJR will be coming back to do some ASM work towards the end of 2008

The majority of the book is the main Spider-man story. Peter Parker lives with Aunt May, hasn't been seen as Spider-man in 100 days, and is looking for a job. Betty Brant finds him an apartment of his own and to finance it he goes job hunting. Meanwhile in NYC there is a burglar going around robbing people in a Spider-man mask. The Daily Bugle is at an alltime low in terms of sales as a result of Spider-man disappearing.
Peter, Harry, Lily Harry's new Girlfriend, and Lily's friend Carlie go to a nightclub that night. Harry loans Peter the money he needs for his apartment. Peter goes outside where he runs into Carlie who also went outside. The Spider mugger then robs them of his wallet and web shooter (he thinks its a watch). Peter shoots a tracker on him and chases after him. (He's not Spider-man as he wants JJJ's sales to stay low) He chases him down to a shelter where Aunt May is volunteering, but the criminal gets away. Peter goes to the Daily Bugle to ask for a royalty check they owe him but JJJ is in the middle of losing the Bugle so he has stopped pay to the employees. Peter goes off on him saying how his Photos made his bad paper sell. JJJ then appears to have a heart attack and collapses on the floor. This issue also introduces a new villain (?) Mister Negative.
The rest of the book is composed of short stories.
The first one is simply an overview of the New Status Quo and what it means for charecters such as Peter, Aunt May, MJ, Gwen, and Harry. [the Gwen thing is just flashback or something, not Gwen revived - kvw]
The next story has Jackpot chasing after new villain Menace.
The next has Aunt May working at her shelter where she meets Freak.
The final one shows Harry meeting his girlfriend Lily's father.
Overall it was a pretty good issue especially compared to what we've been getting the past few years.
Taking it as it is, it sounds decent, but it's still hard to get the taste of OMD out of my mouth.

You may as well stop reading comics then if thats enough to make you not want to read an otherwise good story

I dont understand what the confusion is.
If it's a good story does it really matter if 10 years from now it no longer "counts".
The story will still be there in those issues. retcons don't erase pages from your collection
I havent read it yet so I can't say for sure now.
But you were asking why you should care
If it's good, I dont see why you need another reason.
Good writer, good artist. It will probably be a pretty good comic.
