Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

My Portfolio Site Redesign

I'm hoping to head into employment soon in the next month, into a area of graphic design here in New Zealand, so i thought i would professionalize my portfolio website and add a few of my latest works.
I've did this during the other day, though its not complete as i have a few buttons like contact, etc. and was wondering what you guys and girls thought, so please visit http://www.jectro.com and leave your opinion, because I know it can be better with more input.
You can even talk about the work also, hehe.

I hate to be picky but that's mostly illustration, not graphic design. Also, those pop up galleries are really annoying.

    1) As a small side note, one day, I really hope to be King Penis of Fuck Mountain.

    2) No shitty anime or wolf-people, take that crap to deviant art

    It loads sloooowly.

Yeah, what the hell is that hosted on? A 386 in your parent's basement that sends semaphore signals to a decoding station, which then relays the signal to the internet over a 26baud modem?

Maybe optimise the image for the web, just saving them as medium res Jpegs doesn't really cut it - you need to learn to use the Save for Web option in photoshop if you didn't already.

Other than that, for an illustration portfolio it's great. Simple, straight forward, delivers the art.

    Alright, just a few things:

You need to trim down the amount of artwork there. It's better to have a good 4 x 4 spread than a mediocre 6 x 6 spread.

Pick out your best pieces and put them at the top. In my opinion, Owen Clarke is by far your best illustration, and your best design pieces are Experiment, Art Nouveau, Aztec Bookshop, and the bottom right Silo.

You need to rescan a couple of images. Experiment and the other Silo image are fuzzy. You're selling yourself short on a good amount of the pieces.

If you have a job lined up already, great, you'll learn a lot. If you're looking to get a good graphic design job, focus more on graphic design and get some good "wow" pieces going.

And lastly, if you want to do illustration professionally, you're going to need to keep plugging away at anatomy. In a professional portfolio, you should not have any anatomical errors, and a lot of your faces are lopsided.

I hope this criticism is constructive to you, keep working hard and exploring your potential.
