These paintings are excellent. I especially like the one where the white fox is standing in the middle of bamboo trees as well as the third photo. Hope to see more of your work. Keep on posting.
Glad you're liking it, Darian! And thank you, John-Briner-Art!
Quick update, I've had to go up to Whitehaven, where I'm from, as two of my aunties are very ill, one with an inoperable brain tumour, she was only diagnosed last week, and has been given just weeks to live, and the other with what appeared to be a bilateral stroke, but they're no longer sure. I firmly believe it's more important to see the people I love before they die rather than go to their funerals, so I'm here for a few days with LewieP's Mummy's Mummy. I've not brought paints or canvas with me, as I'm leaving my car here for my mum and coming home on the train, and can only manage a small rucksack.
It's wonderful to be up here with my extended family, even though it's sad cos my aunties are so ill, I domiss my family and Cumbria, I forget how good it is to not live in a city, and to be around people who knew me before I was even born.
Normal stuff will resume next week, once I've recovered from the driving - plays havoc with the cfs, my right leg doesn't want to work, so its lots of painkillers for me. It's funny, cos whilst it's sad, it's also good to be here.
Anyway, if you pray, please include my family in your prayers, if you don't, just think good thoughts to us!

Another quick update - my auntie Audrey died on Saturday - she was the one who had had what appeared to be a bilateral stroke. It wasn't, but we have no idea what it was. I'm sad, because she was a wonderful lady, and I will miss her lots. I've not been able to paint, as I've either been up in Whitehaven, or recovering from the journey. I'll start painting again later on this week.

I think the horns are a bit dark, so I'll lighten them tomorrow. I bought another new brush today - a very fine one, so that I have a better chance of painting the design on the shield. I'm heading down to London tomorrow afternoon - LewieP's Daddy is running in the London Marathon on Sunday, with an anticipated finish time of 3:30 - not bad for an almost 53 year old I'm then heading back up to Whitehaven for my auntie's funeral on Monday, so I probably won't be posting again until Tuesday, after I've painted in the morning.

Thanks, BobCesca and Wildcat - I've realised I'm now at the age when I can expect my aunties and uncles to be getting sick and dying. Its sad, but its a part of life. I'm just glad I got to see my auntie before she died. The funeral was good as well - the vicar knew her, her eldest grandson spoke, and the songs were good ones.
Anyway, I've started the pencil outline to Metro 2033 for Wibod, and will be starting vegeta_666's as soon as I can go out to buy a new canvas - haven't got one the right size.
This is just dreadful, another painting has been damaged in transit - Link's Awakening has a tear in the sail. I've looked at prices for polystyrene sheeting to use, as well as the bubble wrap and fragile tape, I can't think of anything else that will be light and protective - I don't want the price of postage to get in the way of people asking for paintings, and polystyrene is light. The postage I'm charged depends on the size, as well as the weight of the parcel - I found out when I posted a 60x40 canvas that it cost significantly more than a 50x40 canvas, even thought there's very little difference in weight.
I think what I'll do is buy the polystyrene and test wrap a couple of paintings of different sizes to get an accurate idea of the cost including the polystyrene - B&Q sell it for just under £4 a sheet, for a sheet that should do 2 paintings, but I don't know how much (if anything) the price will change.
So far, I've not included the cost of packing pictures, cos I buy the bubble wrap and stuff by the roll, and have never costed it out, but I'm going to have to do that - each roll of bubble wrap is about £17, I use oh, I have no idea, I'll measure the next lot out accurately, and come up with a figure.
I feel awful about this

As someone who was on the receiving end of careless postal workers (still haven't gotten Mirror's Edge fixed yet ), I'll tell you this much - I'd very much pay you the difference for shipping (postage) if the painting had a couple layers of the polystyrene sandwiching it.
Repairs at a frame shop aren't too bad. Still more than paying for you to protect it en route though!
Thanks, 1ddqd, I'm definitely going to use lots more packing materials from now on - I'm going to check out a few ideas me and LewieP have talked about. It just makes me feel so sad that yours and Darian's pictures were damaged.
I've done some more of Metro 2033, I've started the buildings on the left and the snow:
I'm working on the list atm - me and LewieP have discussed how we can a) unfreeze my Paypal account, b) set up a link to give money to Oxfam directly through my blog, and c) a fair way for people to get onto the list when I unfreeze it, which should be some time in the next week or so, once we've worked out a, b and c.
We'll let people know in advance that its going to defrost here in this thread, on Twitter, on SavyGamer and on canvas and paints, that way, anyone who's interested will find out. I'm going to include options on all sorts of things, that's what we're working out right now.

I'm back up in Cumbria again, to visit my auntie with the brain tumour. I'm staying at my brother's, in a hamlet called Kirk Andrew's Moat, in the Disputed Territories between England and Scotland, and am driving down to Whitehaven in the morning. I've had a challenging few days, haven't been able to paint, or even think about posting - there was our Local Government elections last week, plus a vote on an alternative way of electing our government - Single Transferable Vote as opposed to First Past the Post, so there has been a great deal of political campaigning in or household, as well as many an interesting political discussion between me, LewieP and McMonkey.
My friend Josh has put another small painting of mine up for auction on E-bay, its one of Professor Layton and Luke, if you're interested in having a look, you can find it here. Its to raise money for World Bicycle Relief again. here's a clearer picture of it on my blog, here.
He'll post it anywhere in the world.
I'll be finishing my current painting when I get home at the weekend, starting the next one then, as well, then watch this space for the defrosting!

At last! Wibod's painting is finished, I've been to B&Q and bought acres of polystyrene sheets to wrap it in, wrapped it, gone to the post office to post it, and it was shut. Never mind, lewieP's Daddy will post it for me on Monday!
I'll get started on the painting on Wednesday - LewieP's Daddy has 2 job interviews on Wednesday, and another on Thursday, so I'll be able to paint while he's out.

Fantastic, that was very, very fast, they can take up to 3 weeks to arrive! I'm glad you like it. let me know what you buy from Oxfam unwrapped, please.
