So, apparently EA are releasing a new (free of sorts) Battlefield game which appears to have at the least taken its graphical cue from Team Fortress 2.

I assume you mean by this "completely ripped it off".

I was praying this comic would be referenced in relation to something again =D

Apparently that wasn't supposed to be a public sign-up page:

    http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/dev-blog/closed-beta-clarification

That doesn't have anything to do with the previously posted link, it's from May 6th.

Darn it! A wave of beta testers were being accepted the same day that link was posted. Now there's another wave. And I've missed both of them.

Ok, this is a good sign. The Battlefield Heroes website is acting funky, there are a few random crazy people who swear they saw a big "Play Now" button, all the articles on the site were resent to my RSS reader (all of them leading to blank pages).

The "Beta soon" label is gone, as is the news page.

    Let the rumors begin! :-D

edit: Ok, there's no release announcement, that's an old page. Darn it!

Was that "EA Account Login" part on the side there before? I don't recall it being there before, but I certainly won't claim to have a perfect memory of the page.

At any rate, I made an account and tried to log in but it just takes me to a blank page.

Meh. Things are back to normal. Apparently the only changes were the removal of the "Beta soon!" sticker and the addition of the login box, which one may now use as a permanent screen name for comments. Oh, well.

The beta is back on apparently.

    At least according to 1up.

I just signed up for it, a beta key will be sent when a "slot frees up".

I think they're supposed to take priority in re-entering.

The beta reopened a while back, but they are again accepting new beta members, and keys started going out today.

    Resurrection!

Okay, so I got into the beta, registered my key, tied it into my EA account yadda yadda yadda. I had to go before I could download the client, and now I can't find out how to download it. Can anyone help me here? This is really odd.

EDIT: Nevermind. Instead of directing you to the actual beta site if you have a beta key, you have to go to some super-secret passworded site. That's weird.
