So Clone Wars fits perfectly then.

Clone Wars is going to be awesome. The CGI is kinda cheesy compared to the awesome animation style of the original (imo), but the storyline is top-notch.

I'm not terribly familiar with the story line the movie is going to take, but the CG and animation looks atrocious. For Lucas saying he didn't like Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, he sure had no problems using the exact same character models, except rendered in CG. And rendered rather poorly, I must say. That art style does not translate well to 3D CG models at all. And the animation (from the trailer) is blocky and incredibly low-rent. Makes Dreamworks look like Pixar. And that's saying something.
personally, i was a big fan of the tartakovsky series, i want more!

I love the Tartakovsky series. It was brilliant and well executed.

George Lucas did not like it, because he is apparently a crazy old man.

The only passing resemblance this movie has to the toon series is that they copied the character models, which as I said before, do not translate well into 3D CG at all.

One should not be so sure of a large, partially smashed group of nerds' ability to heckle. Some movies are made to be heckled by us. Like Dragon War. *shudders*

    I vote for that.

But apparently The Mummy was pretty horrid too.

    Star Wars is pretty appropriate.

Come watch me talk n' stuff at PAX. Sunday. Tabletop Theatre. 12pm. Be there...or be somewhere else.

Death Race (for those who do not know) is a remake of a truely amazing B-Movie. It exemplifys every trait that the genre has. It stars:

    David Carradine
    and
    Sylvester Stallone

Do we need any further reason to go after this flick? True it is an alteration to the original storyline. But it stars Jason Statham.. He is our current reigning champion of B-Movies!

Here is one of the more memorable clips from the original to give you a taste.

I suppose we could pick 10 and vote, then go see the movie that is available and has the most votes.
Is that what we want to do?

Here are the films from August listed from oldest at the top (Aug 1st) to newest at the bottom (Aug 22).

    1. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Yep. the movie has not been chosen yet because before we can put up a final poll we have to decide

I'll vote for Death Race. If the trailer is any indication, this will be the most unintentionally funny movie since Adam Wests' Batman. It looks like it's going to be the undisputed champion in the "tired action movie cliches" department. =)

I can see the marketing execs that came up with this one.

"Racing + Prison + Guns + Death for Public Entertainment + exceptionally unlikely romantic subplot = $$$ (and the sum total of 90% of action movies ever made, mashed into a thick and syrupy slop)"

EDIT: D'oh... not that I can make it to the movie, I forgot. =( D'oh =( I still encourage you guys to go to this one though. =)
