Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

Basically, there's no way we would waste a multimillion dollar piece of equipment of which we have less than 2 dozen based on the VANISHINGLY small chance that someone could be injured. I don't think it's a big conspiracy either, I really think this is just us thumbing our nose at the Chinese for doing the same thing.

Except that we already did it 22 years before them, and really don't have anything to prove.

I dont know if this has been published, but the satellite , being a KH-11 spy satellite runs on a nuclear power source (uses fuel for moving, but nuclear for running) so i think they were a little more concerned with nuclear fuel and contents of the spy satellite than the actual safety of anyone coming into contact or suffering effects of the hydrazine..but thats just my opinion

It's also a very public succesful test of the AEGIS system.

This would be close to the truth, however, the device probably needs to come down anyway.
I spent the last 4 years either chasing or hiding from Chinese submarines, (SSN and SSBN, respectively)
It's been a real give and take, much like the old Cold War.

Luckily, the Chinese submarine force is only slightly less accident prone than its predecessor, the Soviet navy.

Any cool stories to tell us? Or is that shit classified?

Tons of stories, the vast majority of which would trigger a war if they got out, but one time we spent a week trailing a Chinese sub by 20 feet listening to conversations in the engineering spaces.

    Obviously they never knew it.

    Wacky commies.

And cmon, you can't say you have stories that would trigger a war and then not tell them to us.

    That's just mean.

Well, this one time on a certain special submarine, we were 30 miles up a certain asian river acting as a SEAL base while they ran 4 different insertion and extraction operations.

I think that's general enough to avoid trouble.

EDIT: The Chief of Naval Operations spoke at Submarine Base New London today, I was in attendance.
One of the points he talked about was the successful use of Aegis as an ABM system and how the Navy was going to pursue further abilities in this area.

    A recent editorial:
    Other conspiracy theories include:

    — The Pentagon is afraid the supersecret satellite will fall into the hands of our enemies, revealing the sophisticated new technology that conked out shortly after leaving Earth and utterly failed to accomplish its mission.

    — Pentagon is hoping to bolster support for the missile defense system by demonstrating that it has many other side benefits, such as the ability to shoot down rogue satellites full of poisonous gas that could force victims to endure inconvenient waits at the doctor’s office.

    — Pentagon wants something to think about besides sectarian religious feuds in the Middle East.

Before it fired at the satellite Wednesday night, the military was hesitating about making a shot, citing the possibility of “choppy seas.” Cynics who asked whether this means the nation’s quadrillion-dollar missile defense system only works when the weather is calm were told to stop being ridiculous.

The rest of you, I fucking hate you for the fact that I now have a blue dot on this god awful thread.
