Powerbook G4 not recognizing wireless.

So I am attempting to make my Powerbook G4 internet friendly, and I bought a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter to make this happen. I just updated the OS to Panther so that it would work properly (according the the adapter's system req's, etc.) and installed the software for the adapter...but for some reason my Powerbook is not recognizing the signal from the adapter. What could be causing this? How can I fix it so I can use the freakin' internets?
