It is very pretty, and the story isn't terrible. It's just some fans go too far.
this is great
It was godawful, had no redeeming qualities with a few notable exceptions- they were super innovative with the 3d glasses and it added a lot of subtle stuff and was never in your face, something I'd like to see more of and the forests were extraordinarily pretty despite the whole rest of the movie being a farce

i thought the plot and characters were cliched and silly, but that's not necessarily the touch of death to a movie that mostly wants to impress you with action and visual effects
so when avatar was trying to impress me with action and visual effects, I was like "damn!"
and when it wasn't i was like "ok no, bad"
it is one of the only movies i have seen and been thinking "man, i wish this had less talking and more action"
(the fact that some people on the internet have taken it as this impossibly perfect work of art that Tells Us How To Live says more about those people than it does about the movie, i think)
Derek, IU has a ton of huge squirrels on campus and I totally got to play with one today. All running away from me and then coming back and then running away and then chasing after a nut I threw. It was fun. I am telling everyone because I was pretty excited about it. Squirrels are rad
