    yeah, its killing me now.

also the only good way to make money is doing l5 last stand missions, but if you don't have a good cannon/missile launcher and rectifiers you will get kicked out of the match

Yeah, well, just the Death Hurler-C is enough to be in. I'm even using the goddamn Pinkett (so I don't use up my other parts, you make money much faster when you don't waste half of it repairing your body parts).
the grind is really getting me down. . . why should I get the same amount of points in TDM if I go 50-0 as the other guy on my team who goes 0-9001.

The solution is simple, you should do as I do and play matches for fun (with some LS5 farming now and then). If you play for the hell of it, you'll gradually progress without noticing because you're having fun.

This said, I'm going in right now.

This is very true. Exteel isn't a grind game. You pick it up and play it if you want some fraggy mech goodness and as a nice little bonus you get to pimp your robot over time. Just think of it like playing Quake deathmatch, or some Halo. It's about the fun of playing and kicking ass. Everything else is kind of secondary to that.

Take note that when doing LS5, if you perform exceptionally well, you get awarded even more money. I just finished 2 LS5 runs, a victory and a defeat, which awarded me 2497 and 327 credits, but both times I also got 5800 creds for "your contribution".

I think the "contribution" is what you got last week, and that message is simply there at the lobby incase you forget.

The more/better you do in LS, the more money you get every Tuesday. It's like an extra little check.

Ah ok, thanks. I was surfing the site to find that information. So, every Tuesday you get bonus creds if you do enough LS during the week? Nifty. 5800 will buy you 100K repair points every week.

EDIT: Apparently, if you win all your LS5 games with 45K DUR items, 20% of your earnings (not counting that bonus) will go to repair.
EDIT: Wait, what? You can buy repair in bulk? Awesome.

more parts, and bonus creds for being first or mvp or something.

oh, and make capturing the flag worth some god damn credits :|

I'm just glad the parts are balanced well enough that some kinds don't totally outstrip others. If you're good enough you can just play with a Pinket.

I agree and I don't. I mean it works well as is, and the real monies for upgrades is really just a shortcut since the NCoin parts aren't overpowered or anything, but it would be nice if there were tiers or something so that once you feel comfortable/your build has a chance you're allowed to compete in higher tier games. Would give people a good reason to use those other mech slots too. Obviously you'd prevent people from using higher tier parts in lower tier matches.

I do think it'd be hard to put a lot more parts in the game without some changes like above while keeping it balanced but that doesn't keep me from wishing there was a larger part pool to play around with.

KoolEagle I actually disagree with giving out creds for capping the flag. Giving a credit bonus to any one aspect would probably result in people concentrating on just that once part and if everyone is trying to cap the flag and no one is defending your team is going to lose. The incentive is you get more credits for winning which capping the flag is just one part of. For MVP though I agree a small bonus would be nice to see, say 500 credits or something depending on how it's calculated which I'm not really familiar with.

*Edit* I just logged on and got 13k for my last stand contributions. Damn.

wtf at like the page 11 mark I was told that last stand wasn't worth it earnings wise!

I can disagree with you HappylilElf, the obvious counterpoint to your "everyone will try to cap the flag" is to make a bonus for returning the flag and/or killing enemies who are in close proximity to the flag. Then you could also give rewards for killing enemies who are in close proximity to the flag carrier. Also having the bonus for winning.

of course, this solution breaks the unwritten rule of MMOs: A player's skill at playing the game should never be related in any way shape or form to the game's economy.

What if almost everything was worth more or less the same?
Capture the flag (80% of money bonus), defend the flag (80%), assist in a kill (60%), and actual kill (100%)?
That'd work, I recon. Just make it balanced enough that people don't start acting stupid. And give an incentive to actually win the match (they're already doing that though).

Armored Core 4 is playable over Live and PSN. The upcoming Armored Core 4Answer has a co-op campaign mode.

It's not quite Exteel, though it's probably more appropriate to say that Exteel is not quite Armored Core.
AC is still focused on deathmatch or team deathmatch combat and doesn't offer capture the flag, last stand, domination, or any other multiplayer mode. Despite its relative simplicity this does mean Exteel still has a leg up on AC.

Not to mention Armored Core 4 requires an infinately larger amount of cash to be aple to play what with Exteel being free and AC4 requiring a PS3.

Man I wish I could justify picking up a PS3. Until I get a new TV though I'm holding myself back.

Isn't AC4 on the 360? I'm in the same position though, no HD console till I have a screen that'll do it justice.

I did the tutorial (the SMGs mission was painful, and why did my cannon only work at long range but the bad guys could shoot me from an inch away?) and played one round of Last Stand. Sorta fun, but I just felt like I was running around clicking a lot. Looked at parts, but didn't feel the urge to buy any of them.

So, I dunno. I'll probably give it another try later.

Play some CTF of Deathmatch. Last Stand isn't so much fun as it is a way to earn credits.

Last Stand has it's moments like when you manage to just barely survive the last assault with both gates about to fall but those are few and far between. Usually you either stomp the drones or they stomp you. It is however a fantastic way to get credits if you can get a decent group of 8 rolling. Level 3 difficulty nets you around 1300 per run and Level 5 (which you'll need some upgrades to be effective in) gets you over 2k per run. Plus if you do enough runs you get a bonus every tuesday. Not sure how it's determined but I put in about 10-12 hours into Last Stand over the last week and ended up with a 13k bonus.

For lots of fun just about every time CTF/Team deathmatch is the way to go. Once I got a feel for it I really started having a blast.

I love the Arena level. I'll choose TDM over just about anything else to play on it. Mainly for the way you can jet around on boosts for 2 or 3 laps of the circle, rectifying people for long enough to let them to escape the group of enemies on the other side to your group and then nailing them as you boost back and lead them over to your group.

Then eventually there comes a time where you either run out of boost or become enough of an annoyance that the players on the other team decide enough is enough and break their group to come gunning for you.

That is when it turns awesome.

Mekhi arms are pretty rad and seem to have the best stats around from what I can see, but they're more for run and gunning than standing around with a cannon.

Ballistika Arms!!! max heat is so fucking huge! THE HUGEST IN FACT!!!1!

Mr. Banballow was so badly maimed, he turned into a hideous monster, oozing and bleeding, snarling and growling like a beast---enraged and bent on revenge. He tracked down the kids responsible for the fire and killed them one by one----with a blowtorch. That wasn't enough for Banballow. I think a good cooldown is more important than max heat, unless you plan to change guns all the time. Then you need good EN and EN recovery because it'll hinder your boosting.

The nice part about rockets is that you can move/boost while using them. Not great for TDM/CTF since hitting fast moving targets with them is damn near impossible though.

Well either way you'll be switching because with less max heat you'll need to switch unless you want to wait while the enemy is shooting you. The EN regen is a problem that I will resolve with Blitzker CS core. Well, if I ever play enough an keep interest to get there.

The only arm that competes with Ballistika are the Spazmok which are equally priced.

Davenstar Arms have such amazing cooldown that you'll be ready to shoot again in 3 seconds anyway. Plus, they have +cooldown of their own. They're very much comparable and very much cheaper.

Right now, for CTF, I use:

    - Zeeker (head)
    - Spazmok (arms & legs)
    - Jaywalker (core)
    - Dispenser
    - 2 Beam Spitter-D

With that combo, I might not boost as fast as a Sonic Boomer, but I can boost for extended periods of time and in the long run, I outrun pretty much anybody. I've got 3000+ EN, very low En drain when boosting and really good EN recovery. My arms have a very acceptable max heat and cooldown, so I can shoot a lot.

Right now I'm saving up to buy two Saint Shields to use in Weapon2 when I'm going back to base with the flag.

    I'm using both. :P

Davenstar arms and Rushnik legs / core have been serving me reasonably well in getting my sea legs financially while still being reasonably affordable. I was using Mekhi arms, but the increased cooldown + marksmanship on the Davenstars made a huge improvement in my Rifle accuracy and damage output.

The difference in weight did make a huge impact in movement / dash speed though, which was a bit of a drag.

Edit: Anyone fiddle with the missile backpacks? They seem to be vastly inferior for boosting purposes, but I'm curious about the range / damage output.

Is it wrong to make your mechanaughts look like the gears in Xenogears? So far i've made Fenrir(since they dont have hand to hand attacks... which they should!) using a shotgun + CEd. Im currently working on Billy's gear Renmazuo complete with dual echo-blasters... but im kinda dissapointed, they dont really do alot of damage. I was also gonna dual wield rectifiers in my other set, just because Billy was a badass healer. :winky:

It is true with some weapons, but I think that with Beam Spitter, D actually is better than C. The damage increase outweighs the faster overheating for this particular weapon.

With my current mech setup, I can basically fire with one weapon until overheat, switch to the other, and repeat that pattern non-stop. The only times I'm not shooting is when I'm reloading.
