No, it is not a chopper thread, it is dedicated to
circle-01.jpg

Still the funniest cartoon I've ever seen after all these years. Every episode is golden.

Here's a great example of an episode:

The Trick Race
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

You can talk about that Wachowski adaptation, if you want, I guess. But it'll never live up to the entertainment of the original dubbed series.

"Compare their photographs! See the resemblance for yourself!"

I have seen a few episodes of the original cartoon, and so I was kind of interested in the movie, but it looks like it will just be another family friendly CG filled summer "empty movie" that you will forget as soon as it finishes.

Even if I did want to see it, I am not really able to see it in the theater anyway, so I would have to wait until the DVD release. I doubt I will still be interested then.

However, I am now considering tracking down the original cartoon because of this thread.

Man, I watched Speed Racer back when I was a kid. It was on before Hong Kong Phooey.

Why is it that a Japanese cartoon from the 1960's is so popular today?

Especially when they could be running reruns of Hong Kong Phooey instead.

    Well
    Hong Kong Phooey was tripe
    Speed Racer was nonsense

    How Speed suddenly guesses that
    Racer EX
    is
    REX

is completely ridiculous, he had no idea to begin with, that was just a shot in the dark!

Also, Hong Kong Phooey is stupid and about like some stupid karate dog? Nobody wants to watch that crap.

You are a heretic and must be burned at the stake as such.

And I'm talking about the original 1970's Hong Kong Phooey, not that shitty remake they did a few years back where they tried to make it all Samurai Jack and shit.

Some of Hannah Barbera's older remakes aren't all that bad, like the secret squirrel series that ran alongside two stupid dogs.

    Hong Kong Phooey was great.

And I believe that new version Pk's talking about was just a one-shot flash toon on the Cartoon Network website that was done for kicks. And it was done well before Samurai Jack ever existed. It was actually supposed to be DBZ-ish and was pretty slick and done well.
