    Is the new datacenter essentially a move to restore system stability?

    or is it also a system upgrade as well...ie are we possibly going to see improved performance across the board?

    Yes, the stability and performance problems were not something we could address due to space constraints. For the first week the forums will be running off of two servers. Once we have migrated off of the Santa Clara servers, we will be shipping the old servers to LA where they will resume serving the forums in addition to the new equipment.

    The database server has 5x15,000 RPM drives in RAID 10. :D

    When the old database server arrives, I'll set it as the dedicated searching server and life will be good.
