She had turned her back to Kestrial and Sho and the others, her eyes looking out into the night around them, scanning from side to side to side slowly, keeping an eye out for anybody or anything that just might be surrounding them or watching them.
She looked back over her shoulder when Sho mentioned her idea and grinned a bit.
"You never know, they might be willing to talk. Now, can we talk about this a bit quieter? Just in case?"

"I may not be well versed in the ways of battle but I think a quick strike would be best, cut off the head and the body will die."
"My apologies ma'am, I don't believe I will be able to enjoy your lovely fish. Unless you know more about these people than my sometimes companions, I believe I have work to do."
"Any of you who wish are welcome to join me. Kestrial, from what I've seen you seem to be able to get any information you want quite quickly, but if you don't want to help me, I will cope in my own bumbling way."
With that, Deadly Shadow got up and turned towards the town. Hopefully he could find a tavern which was still open. They tended to be a source for all kinds of useful gossip.
"You saw him when I was not even looking. Your eyes are sharp, and your instincts good. If you say to go now, then we go now."
The seriousness aside for a moment, she grinned back at him as she followed him.
"I thought you did not want to go after them just yet. We are going to learn a bit more, or do I need to keep my arrows even more at the ready?"
And with that, she followed Sho, nodding to Kestrial on the way.

Shadow paused for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
"I admit though, it's more than that... My heart also burns within me when I see how these people are treated. And when Kestrial says these men are responsible, it makes sense to me. Unfortunately, I no longer have the luxury of believing that just causes always win."
With that, he lapsed into a contemplative silence. Soon they reached a dockside pub. Taking a last glance around, Shadow strode into the pub. Sliding himself onto an empty stool, he slid a generous number of coins onto the counter and ordered an ale.
Turning to Cikala, he asked "And you would like...?"
Her voice was soft as they entered the pub and she slid to a stool next to him.
"My heart aches for these people. And my fingers itch to make things right. By firing arrows or by scratching out a few eyes... Just causes may not always win, and those that fight for them may not always survive. But would you rather die knowing that you let others suffer along the way, just because there was no guarantee that you could win?"
She sighed a tiny bit and then smiled up at the bartender and then turned that winning smile back to Sho.
"If you are paying, then I will settle for some hot tea. I would not wish to take advantage of your generosity."

"WHAT! Eight Huokha were defeated by two weaklings! And you ran like a coward, I should kill you where you stand." Hakken was furious.
"After seeing eight proud warriors cut down instantly, I thought you needed to know, Great Hakken."
Hakken glared at the warrior, "Hmph, there is a point in your blubbering. I will let you live. This time. And the Huokha will crush these interlopers. No one defies the will of Huekwah."
"Yes, Glorious Hakken. I will gather the horde and we will destroy all who stand in our way."
"No. No, tonight we prepare, tomorrow the streets shall run red. We attack with the dawn." Hakken looks to the south, "And I will send a runner to Huokhaan, Ananos will know our wrath before the sun sets again. Hakken has spoken."
"Why, the sight-seeing of course! A lovely town you have here. Although, with such a lovely town and the river as beautiful as it is, there seem to be less smiles than I would expect on the faces of your neighbors. Everybody looks so sad, did somebody important die lately? Was the catch or the harvest bad this year?"
Cikala turned from him to look around the tavern at the others there, if there were others present, just being cautious.
She brought the hot tea to her lips, holding the rounded cup in one hand, but she did not drink right away, but inhaled the vapor, closing her eyes for a fraction of a second and then exhaling slightly.
"A good blend."

Walking a fair distance behind Sho and Cikala she notices them enter a tavern and soon follows suit. Stepping up to the bar a few feet from where the two sit she places a silver coin on the counter and says to the bartender "Excuse me sir, I'd like a glass of wine please."
Thanking the man as he hands her a glass, Kestrial turns and leans back across the bar counter; listening to Cikala's conversation with him.
Not that there was much secrecy to be had. This place seemed to be one of those villages that everybody knew everybody else, so three strangers entering a tavern ...
But maybe the would get lucky and these people were a little on the slow side and couldn't put two and one together to make three.
But there is very little luck in situations like this.
