Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
How hard is this to do? I left my 401K with my last company after I got axed but I'm not impressed with my options (especially the dismal performance of my only large cap value option--the one with the microsofts etc.). I'm thinking of rolling it over into an IRA where I have more faith in the fund managers but I'm not sure if this is out of the fying pan into the fire. Also, my understanding is that there are no tax consequences so long as I don't touch the money.
Are you planning on having the IRA at the same company the 401k is currently with (i.e. Fidelity, Vanguard, T Rowe Price etc.)? Honestly the best thing to do is just call and ask what they reccomend. I don't know where your money is so I don't know anything about the performance of any of their funds, so depending on the situation there are pros and cons to rolling over.
I want to switch it to a different company otherwise I'd just leave it in the 401k. I think I'll just surf for info on companies I can roll to. Either that or cash it out and take the tax hit and put the money into guns and gold bullion.
