Found on Kotaku.

As a Metroid II fanatic, I find myself in a state of excitement.

Project is called "SR388" and looks to be quite a ways along.

So this is different from that other one? It looks good, but I don't know if I trust them to add so much new content and keep a consistent level of quality.

I'm quite sure it isn't a remake. Just a fan game with elements of Metroid 2

I can't wait for this to get pushed on the back burner or shut down like the vast majority of similar projects.

    I wouldn't mind a Metroid: Two-oh Mission though.

    This is an understatement.

The prospect of a remake (and this fantastic video) has got me dusting off the old cartridge and the Super Game Boy.

What was the music playing throughout the video? Can I find that anywhere?

I'm sure Nintendo will get right onto it, straight after they put Earthbound on the VC and give Mother 3 an English translation.

Yeah, this looks to be based on the Super Metroid engine rather than Fusion/Zero Mission, which the other one was.

Hey, great job guys, it looks awesome! But I really can't bring myself to care about it unless it sees the light of day. Which it probably won't.

It says in the credits, it's the tunnel theme remade from 2. I dunno where to find it but I squealed like a little girl with joy.

I don't care if this is a fan-game or an official one, if it's free or if it costs money, I don't care the platform, I'm just getting it. I'm getting this game and I'm playing the hell out of it. It looks simply awesome!

A GBC remake was planned at some stage IIRC, but they decided to do Links Awakening DX instead.

Just watched the video - very cool stuff. While I am skeptical this will ever be generally available, you never know.

I wonder if the VC would ever accommodate GB/GBA games. I would absolutely buy Metroid II as I never finished it as a kid.

By pressing select rapidly in a few choice places while moving vertically or horizontally, the game would mess up, and openings out of the game world would appear, allowing you to traverse some very, very strange, mind bending areas.

(I removed the link, as it contains some morally questionable programs. You know what I mean.)

EDIT: An update on that page is interesting, but probably unrelated:

    February 29, 2004

-I made a few more simple updates, including some new SW enemies as well as a remodeled links section. I also made some small graphical enhancements, including a small animated website banner, courtesy of MrMissileMisser.
I've also been working on a side project, though its completion is still some time off. Here's the tentative logo...

Think Glitch City in Pokemon Red/Blue. It was something like that. My favorite place to do it was by the save point right below the huge room at the end of the game - the one you have to Space Jump to the top of in order to enter the area with the final ten Metroids.

It's a shame it turned out that Metroid Dread wasn't happening. Nintendo needs to get back to making 2D Metroids.
