I didn't even realize till like two weeks ago that the "I Will" riff is used in "My Best Friend's Girl" by The Cars.
Every time I heard it, I was like "this sounds so familiar..."

I still remember one time listening to a radio station that plays reasonably current music (like 90's to current) and I was humming along to a beatles songs thinking "Why are they playing the beatles, this isn't like this radio station"
Then Ghallegar starts singing and I was all "Oh, Oasis, makes sense now."
Oasis isn't a bad band, but it's one of those situations where I don't really know how people compare the two. The vocalists sound nothing like any of the Beatles.
Kinda like Radiohead and Muse, but in reverse. With those two, I can see vocal similarities, but that's where it ends.
i can't listen to TMBG or Cake. I respect their music, but other than Constantinople and The Distance, respectively, there is something that I don't click with in their songs.
Maybe it's just a thing that will go away in due time. I'll give them both a listen again a few months. We'll see.
Oh, I agree. Same with Radiohead. Just saying, don't see the similarities. I don't see why people feel the need to compare as long as they're not straight ripping multiple riffs from them or something. If I want to like Dave Matthews and John Mayer, I should be allowed to.
As for Cake, I only really like Short Skirt, Long Jacket. And I'm sure half of that is due to the video.

Oasis massively rip off the beatles in terms of music structure.
I agree that they sound different but Noel and Liam have admitted they pretty much copy the beatles.

I don't like Radiohead that much, actually. Not my thing. Then again, Showbiz is my least favorite muse period, and they do sound like Radiohead there, so.
Recent muse is just amazing though. Bellamy is a goddamned genius.
also, i just got Oh No by Ok Go, and i never realized what a good band they are. Oh No is a really really solid album.
Randomly bought Oh No when I was looking for something to blow money on at Wal-Mart. Found it really repetitive. I went through a bit of a CD-buying craze last year, bought over 100 CDs total, and ended up selling like five of them to the local music store. Oh No was one of them.
When they finally come out will you handle them, will you devastate them deliberately
Cause im gonna guess they wont be prepared for the 1000 Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes.

I've never really understood why the Beatles were so famous.
surely you can't be serious
This is more me not knowing anything about them, rather than me questioning why they're famous (also bad teefs for taking that one sentence out of context).
Because of this thread I've been reading up on them on Wikipedia - I can appreciate how big of a cultural influence they were, although up till really researching them I didn't know that they were the first to really set off so many trends during the 60s and onwards.
Personally, I prefer Simon and Garfunkel musically. I can't comment of the technical skill of the two groups, but I find S&G more to my tastes.

btw muse is freaking awesome
TMBG annoys me sometimes, but I like some songs
Cake is pretty great
Muse is rad

Am I the only one whose favorites are Help! and A Hard Days Night?
I'm gonna go ahead and compile a list of my favorite Beatles songs here, top 10. There is no "number 1" in this list because I love them all and can't pick favorites beyond this point.
1) In My Life
2) For No One
3) Hey Jude
4) Your Mother Should Know
5) Things We Said Today
6) If I Needed Someone
7) Getting Better
8) Dear Prudence
9) Something
10) Dig A Pony
11) A Day in the Life (I couldn't bear to not include it - listen I tried my best to limit it to ten)
That said, there is a terrible cover of "Rock and Roll Music" which was my favorite Beatles song as a kid and it fills me with a black rage every time I hear it.

Though I prefer their earlier stuff I don't see how anyone can't consider Revolution to be their best song.
It's rumored that one verse says (as opposed to 'baby you're a rich man too') baby, you're a rich fag jew. As a teasing veiled insult to Brian Epstein.

Apparently he was completely obsessed with John (and sometimes Paul).
John might have even had a... get together with him at one point. The two of them took a vacation together.

I think "I Will" is my favorite off The White Album. I like the way its put right after "Why don't we do it in the road"
Hamlet will be Hamlet
An ineffable tragedy of the human spirit that still resonates, even today.
Every time I heard it, I was like "this sounds so familiar..."
Then Ghallegar starts singing and I was all "Oh, Oasis, makes sense now."

Magical Mystery Tour
Please Please Me
all soooo good.
oddly ehough though, my favorite songs aren't on either of those albums.
'Hey Bulldog' and 'Sexy Sadie' as well as 'And Your Bird Can Sing' really are the best songs
also Hello Goodbye is a great song especially when it isn't being covered by shitty emo bands
After Sloop John B
I love Sloop John B.
JordynNolz.com <- All my blogs (Shepard, Wasted, J'onn, DCAU) are here now!
beck has a new song out called "chemtrails" and you can listen to it on his website which is
www.beck.com
You should.
My dad bought the Forest Gump soundtrack ages ago and I listened to it a lot as a kid. So many great tracks spanning decades.
i'm on the third one now and god this CD is going to be fucking legendary for how bad it is
when I ran away from shitty 4-H camp I hummed Sloop John B on the way home. (the police found me before I made it, but that doesn't really matter)
No, I like the Beatles a lot, too
I'm a skinny, white seventeen-year-old
I'm practically entitled to
TMBG annoys me sometimes, but I like some songs
Cake is pretty great
Muse is rad
also the movie from whence the album came.
I also like Help! a lot though, it's just not my favorite.
EDIT: shit they didn't even write it

the slow version from the White Album is so good though.

But which Beatle is your favorite Beatle?
