Is this a fossil?

Hey all,

For the longest time, I've been carrying around this rock that I believe is a fossil (since I was eight, actually). I've asked various science teachers and professor about it, and about half of them believe it is a fossil, while the other half aren't sure. I now turn to you, H/A, for help with this. I've taken three pictures (three different angles), but if you need more specific ones, I have a high-res capable camera and the object of interest sitting right next to me. Just ask!

Spoilered for huge:

Thanks!

I think its just a rock...

Is there some kind of a bone or other anatomical feature you think it looks analogous to?

    Yes, actually:

I think the part that I have circled in red is a fossilized worm (or something like that).

But other than that, just the way it looks, you know? I don't know...besides the "fossilized worm," whenever I look at it, I imagine that it is a joint in some prehistoric creature.

    It's a rock.

Worm's don't fossilize - all they are is soft tissue. A worm fossil would be easy to notice becuse what fossilizes is the imprint the body leaves behind.

I've found fossils before, generally though there were really obviously fossils. Like finding a snailshell, only its a rock. Or trilobytes.

Yeah I would say thats probably not a fossil...

Looks like it's an interesting rock, but I don't believe that to be a fossil and the gouge looks like erosion: not a worm.

just looks like a sorta nifty rock. When it doubt, take it to a geologist or paleontologist

I'm an archaeologist, not a paleontologist, but I can pretty safely say that what you have is an oddly shaped rock.
