External Harddrives - The best brands?

So I'm looking to buy an external harddrive to use as a backup. I'm wondering what are the best brands to look for (Seagate?) when I head down to Futureshop in the next few days.

Seconded for Western Digital. I've been using two of them for years, one of them was dropped recently and it's still going strong, not a bother.

...and I thought of how all those people died, and what a good death that is. That nobody can blame you for it, because everyone else died along with you, and it is the fault of none, save those who did the killing.

Get an enclosure and an internal drive; they'll usually be cheaper and have better warranties, and you can convert it back to an internal drive easily if you end up needing to.

Western Digital's MyBook is the gold standard for external drives right now. Honestly any name brand is going to work fine.
