[WoW] Raid Thread - Naxxramas? Didn't we do this 2 years ago?
So, WLK is ages away, new games and burnout are drawing away from your standard crew, and your pool of recruits has either shrunk to 0, or seems to be filled with people who probably have trouble getting dressed each morning without strangling themselves.
Welcome to Raiding!
So, anyone else finding more and more people lapsing into pre-expansion malaise before we have anything but scraps of info?
7:45 Raid invites go out.
7:46 23 people in the raid.
8:01 28 people in the raid.
8:05 Okay, everyone head to BT.
Where did everyone go?
I hate the fact that when they say invites go out at x people take thier sweet ass time showing up for a raid
I show up at that time ready and able to go and wait 30 minute or more while you finish your porn or whatever

I love my current guild for this. Rather than have a hard raid start time, we use an attendance tracker that shows on each day when each raid member is expecting to be in game and at the zone line. You just make sure that your character's in that position, then you can goof off on alts or whatever. When the raid leader calls out that invites are starting, everyone swaps to mains and we fill up the raid and go. If invites are going to be significantly delayed beyond the normal start time (somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00) they let folks know when to come back. It's nice.
Some nights take a little longer than others because we're tweaking for a boss, but by and large it cuts down on the 'sit down and do nothing and wait' time.
I get shit for being late (Some shit), and leaving early (More than being late), even though I post about both, and at the start of the raid say "I have to leave when my friend calls me."(Though, I did leave very suddenly when I left early, but I got called when my friend arrived, not when he was leaving his home).
Sure, I won't leave mid-boss, but I'm not going to stick around for another attempt and make someone wait for me if we're running back.
Yeah I don't know why they're so bitchy about it. I mean we're all bitchy about people with spotty attendance and your whole "I don't have a home" thing has made your lifetime attendance look pretty bad, but still. You did post and mention that you'd be leaving early. When it's one of Bahl's buddies who wants to leave after an hour, it's no problem because hey they told him! Even though we might have had someone who could stay the whole night sitting out, it's fine, because they told him. Never mind him showing up late and his girlfriend leaving an hour or two early every night this week because she stays up all night playing and then is too tired for raids.  Yet last night he's bitching about why you weren't taken off the attendance for Sunday since you "left early."
That is easily solvable. Become an OT, so you can just go afk for 6 mins or so
Our paladin OT actually did this last night. We were about to pull and he's like "Shit, I have to go pick up my niece, I'm AFK." No one noticed until I had to roll on shoulders for him. Which I failed at. ;__;

I remember a dps warrior would talk on and on about how his girlfreind would sit in his lap or give him a blow while playing.

I do not like the first boss of Sunwell. He makes me sad, as a Paladin healer.

I bet a ret paladin could do it, ours is constantly typing stuff in /say mid-fight because he has nothing better to do.
That'd be because there are long cooldowns between abilities. I can type out things on my pally, but not my hunter

We solved the people showing up whenever the hell they felt like issue with an on time dkp bonus. Like a big one. Like 1/2 of a raids worth. (25 for on-time vs 5 for farm bosses + 5 for end raid)

We used to have this one rogue who would always talk to one of the RLs with a bind, and then the RL would reply as normal not realizing this, so everyone in the channel would think he was crazy.
I'd be way too worried using binds to talk to specific people, like at some point I'm sure I'd hit the wrong key and make an ass of myself. Like the time my mom called while I was doing AB and I kept hitting push-to-talk anyway but didn't hear people yelling at me cos I'd muted Vent.

We used to handle blessing assignments pre-Pally Power. It worked out okay, I don't recall any of the paladins screwing it up but others did sometimes.
My old guild never really took advantage of the feature, but my new one does constantly, so while we're raiding (or doing something else that's a large group gathering) I'm constantly seeing people's icons lit up yellow. It's interesting to see what cliques are going on behind the scenes, even if you aren't part of the conversation... until one of them is retarded and hits their usual push to talk key.

So I pretty much got back into raiding. My first Kara run netted me most of the good feral druid stuff (including the hentai staff), and apart from that I have shoulders from Hyjal. Good enough for me tagging along to Black Temple as pure DPS while I work on getting more tank gear.
Heh, we just have chat channels for cliques. Apparently this one guy's "me and my friends" channel turned into the melee channel but now there's sort of bickering over whether new melee DPS get invited because it's not REALLY the melee channel, etc.
The way I see it; is everything being said that is important to the melee's job being covered in general channels and/or text chat channels? Then not everyone needs to be in. If things are being said (on the fly or in preparation) for the melee in general, then they should suck it up and have everyone in there.
Cliques are fine, they're expected, and there's nothing wrong with making people earn the right to be included, but if a raid crew has information that's not reaching certain members due to high-school'esque friend circles, they're just harming themselves, and in turn, the crew as a whole.
We have two main pally healers, and one guy who just came back but has sub par gear.
One main is on vacation for a month, the other is flying from the US to NZ for medical treatment as his kidneys are dying, and its cheaper over there or something.
We have three resto shammy.
One showed up this week, one is moving, one is deathly ill and is high as a kite (Hi Transporter!)
We have Three holy priests.
One is moving, one is spotty normally and hasn't been seen for a while, one showed up this week.
We have one resto druid. He sucks, and I think he just got raidkicked.
We have four locks. One vanished.
We have two shadow priests. One showed up, one just got shot.

Raid starts at 8. Normally raid leader does invites at 10 to.
We have yet to start on time.
With the raid leader's kidneys turning into a gooey mush, I started doing things, and started invites at quarter to.

But did he die though? Getting shot doesn't necessarily mean dead. Might have been an non-essential body part. Like a toe.

I have an aversion to getting shot. And sure it might be a flesh wound but I don't want to die because I was depending on someone else's poor aim. That's super low on my list of ways I want to go out. In fact I'm pretty sure you have to get out of the top 100 to find a way to die that doesn't involve a bed.

Hm? The longest gap I have between casts is 6 seconds, but that's a maximum; most of the time it's about half that because of overlap. I mean, yeah, it's much more time than a tanking warrior has available, but it's a casting frenzy compared to my tankadin days. I could manage to type something mid-fight if necessary, but doing it constantly would throw off my rhythm.
I suppose it's because of the cooldowns, you know exactly when you're going to have to do something next, and there is time in between. Versus my warlock where I'm just spamming 4 so that I can get the next cast started as soon as possible or a druid that has to hit the spacebar AND lifebloom button as often as the GCD allows.
