You can get a pair of headphones that sound glorious for like 60 bucks now-a-days. It's definitely not heard to find a good pair of over-the-ear headphones without paying bose price.
Actually bose speakers and in-home surround sound stuff is pretty damn kickass. Even for the price. It's just their headphones which cost way too much.

Back to non-headphone stuff kinda.
My Sennheiser 280's like I've said are just the best thing I've ever heard sound out of. I know that somewhere out there there's surround sound systems and even 2.1 systems that can pull off sound of that quality, right?
My question is that if I'm looking for something like that - what in the hell part of the specs would tell me that these are comparable to my 280's? What is the price range for most systems like this?

They're pretty awesome. Similar to a Grado 80 -> 125 quality wise, but with less harsh highs. I actually prefer them the most with a tube amp (or a Millet Hybrid) which smooths them out even more.
If you listen to guitar heavy stuff, Grado/Alessandro will make it fuckin shine like you've heard.
The most important thing here is that they are dirt cheap. I got them off eBay for $40, considerably less than through a direct retailer. They have great quality - sometimes a little bass heavy, but I listen to a lot of metal, so that actually helps me. Also, they are pretty much perfect in terms of sound-canceling. I can't hear the phone ringing five feet away when I have them on even at low volume.
The only con I can think of is that they are a little uncomfortable after long periods of wear. They press in on your ears a bit harder than they should, and there isn't a whole lot of padding on the band. It's never been bad enough that I've had to stop listening just because of it, though.
They were probably the most worthwhile purchase I've made when it comes to music in the past two years.

Man, what the hell are they talking about needing to learn about aesthetics, those things look awesome.
they are sorta humongous
I've been up and down the upgrade ladder a couple times because of those guys.
Good place to sell used cans and amps though, its made my binges more affordable.
they are over-ear. I mean shit, they're wood. That's some classy headphoning right there.
they cost a grand btw
But dude knows his sound.
Get a hair cut.
Problem solved.
I just put big headphones on under my hair
but it does look a little silly yeah
I don't have to get a hair cut, mine's not falling out.
What?
Bald is beutiful.
I don't see myself spending anything beyond 250.
Amirite?
my dog wrecked the old one
