The first two games made me crap my pants so bad I haven't even opened my copy of the third game. Of course, I'll go pick up the fourth one without hesitation.

True. I think I'll be playing FF3 this weekend to rectify that. Of course, I'll need to purchase some booze and adult diapers.

I wouldn't say that they have the greatest gameplay in the world. It's your standard survival horror shtick - run around solving puzzles while fighting ghosts with a camera. Camera is upgradeable and all. Story and setting tends to be incredibly dark and bleak.

But, man, are they creepy/scary as hell. Then again, ghosts creep me the fuck out anyway.

Actually he just has to go to sleep with Fatal Frame 3 next to him and...

Nice to see these in color after the amber Japanese mag scans. The game looks to have a slightly higher level of detail compared with Fatal Frame 1-3, and is quite sharp. Apparently using a high level of FSAA?

I can't tell if that character is supposed to be a girl or a woman. She looks partway between Fatal Frame 2's borderline-gothic-lolita twins and Fatal Frame 3's adult heroine. I hope she doesn't run all gimpy like in all the past games, but I fear she'll have a demure and absolutely ineffective pace equivalent to a tranquilized turtle slogging through mud.

Also looks to be an entirely new Camera Obscura that she's holding there. It doesn't match the one from Fatal Frame, or the different one from Fatal Frame 2 and 3. Amaterasu must have a lot of spare Holy Mirrors or something...

Awesome - I really struggled to play Fatal Frame 2 - it scared the hell out of me. The whole idea that there are ghosts that only appear when you look through the camera is just intense and horrifying. The only times that I've had a hard time playing a game at night was FF2 and some of the freak out effects where you hear voices all around you in Eternal Darkness.

I just wish my work filter would let me see the images :(

I've really wanted to play the Fatal Frame series for a while.

But I mean, Resident Evil 4 scared the hell out of me when I played it at night. How on earth could I handle something as supposedly-scary as Fatal Frame?

OH I love Fatal Frame SO HARD.

These are some of the only games I've ever gotten my wife to play with me. Those were some of the most fun times ever - playing in the pitch black living room, going to bed freaking out and whispering about which ghost scared us the most.

If you think any of those pictures are bad, you have no effing idea.

There are ghosts in the third one that made me scream like a little girl. I remember at one point that I walked out of a door and right into the arms of a ghost with no eyes screaming like nothing I have ever heard before. The wife had to scrape me off of the ceiling.

Or how about broken neck ghost? Or ghost-in-a-box?

    OMG...Crawlspace ghost.

Oh, it's going to be AWESOME.

Until Fatal Frame 3, I thought if they'd quit dressing the heroines in skin-tight miniskirts, maybe they could run faster. Then FF3's heroine actually wore pants but still couldn't run, so maybe it's a common genetic defect in paranormally-sensitive Japanese women or something.

I've gotta be honest, I've never played a single FF. As much as I loved Silent Hill and to a lesser extent, RE, I just never seemed to get around to it. So I'm looking forward to trying my hand at this one, and with Grasshopper and Suda at the helm, it's even more tempting.

No idea on a release date.

From personal experience the first two were easy to pick up some time after release (especially number 2 because it showed up on the PS2 and Xbox). The third one, though, was a bitch for me to find after a few months past release.

July 31st for Japan, rumored September or October for us.

I would get it within the first month, there's no telling these days. Once people realized just how incredible the series was with the release of Crimson Butterfly, the third one went quick.

It was revealed recently that this game went Wii exclusive. Also announced that Nintendo will have a hand in it, being published under Nintendo. I think the game will benefit from the partnership. Not to turn this into a waggle Wii fest thread, but controlling the cam with the remote could be cool.

I also have been primarily a Silent hill & RE person, but I recently played Fatal Frame and really enjoyed it. Pretty damn scary.

Fatal Frame really is the scariest game series in the world. RE4 is intense, FF is terrifying.

I know it isn't going to happen but, oh lord, how glorious would it be if a camera shell was packaged with the game? You'd actually have to bring the Wiimote up to your face to take pictures in-game. Lord, that would be the most frightening thing ever.
