I have question about RAZRs, for anyone who's used one

I'm helping my mom get hers set up how she wants it, and I can't figure out how to get the side volume controls to work. Whenever I try to make the volume go up or down, it just says "Change Audio" then below that "Loud." If I open the phone, they work, but not with it closed. Anyone know anything?

    The volume button only works with the phone open. When its closed they just let you change the ring style, put it on silent mode, stuff like that.

    The volume keys change the sound profile modes on the phone when it is closed. From "Loud" to "Vibrate" to "Silent" and so forth.

    When it is open they change the actual ring volume.

    When you are on a call, they change the call volume.
