So, Joss Whedon has a web series coming out, and a teaser for it just came out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXI3obHfwgU

It stars Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion, as well as a bunch of other Whedon regulars, and it looks pretty good. Let's talk about it!

It's going to air in Mid July and be free for a couple of weeks, then you'll be able to pay to download it, and eventually a DVD will be available.

If you guys run out of things to say about that, I guess we could talk about Dollhouse which is his other new project, starring Elisha Dushku.

Also lets try to keep all the Joss fanboy browncoat bullshit out of this thread, huh?

It's basically something he put together with his buddies while the writers strike was on, so it probably is pretty low budget, he might have even financed it himself.

I found the official site, and there are only 3 episodes which will go up on the 15th, 17th and 19th of July.

And it sounds like it's a full on musical, which will be cool, because the Buffy musical episode was excellent and by all accounts Joss is a great song writer.

    Mr. Horrible
    Mr. Horrible
    Telephone call for Mr. Horrible
But before he can talk to the ugliness men
    There's some horrible business left
    For him to attend to
Something unpleasant has spilled on his brain
As he sponges it off they say

    "Is this Horrible?
    Is this Horrible?
It's the ugliness men, Mr. Horrible
We're just trying to bug you
    We thought that our dreadfulness
Might be a thing to annoy you with"

But Mr. Horrible says, "I don't mind
The thing that bothers me is
    Someone keeps moving my chair"

"Would you mind if we balance this glass of milk
Where your visiting friend accidentally was killed?
Would it be okay with you if we wrote a reminder
Of things we'll forget to do today otherwise,
Using a green magic marker, if it's alright
On the back of your head?"

    Mr. Horrible
    Mr. Horrible
We're not done with you yet Mr. Horrible
You have to try on these pants so the Ugliness Men
Can decide if they're just as embarrassing as we think
We have to be sure about this

But Mr. Horrible says, "I don't mind
The thing that bothers me is
    Someone keeps moving my chair"

I like Joss Whedon's stuff enough. But I hate the cult of Joss Whedon. The drooling, shit-chucking, mouth-breathing fan-girls that have read Atlas Shrugged and automatically fill their official Dark Willow "skexy" panties with pools of warm lady spunk every time Joss Whedon commits his pen to paper.

So that, but Whedon seems pretty cool, his stuff is usually quality.

I've seen a lot of Buffy and Angel (because of my girlfriend). Never seen Firefly, but I keep meaning to just rent the whole thing and watch it over a weekend or something. I can dig some Joss Whedon occasionally.

I think Joss Whedon is good at writing for characters, though his plots can be somewhat lacking.

I really like Firefly, and I enjoy the few episodes of Buffy I've seen.

Buffy is very good. Whedon keeps it somewhat believable and doesn't get to lost in his own mythology (I'm looking at you JJ Abrams and Chris Carter)

Again, it is the cult of Whedon that pisses me off.

Nathan Fillion strikes me as one of the more genuinely likable guys in show business.

Along with people like Ron Howard, Jason Bateman, the guy who played Wash, and Jon Stewart.

Also, I hate, hate, hate the way vampires are portrayed in Buffy, and therefore find the show unwatchable. Firefly was good times though.

The cult of whedon is probably something you are more likely to run into at conventions/web forums, really.

I was stunned to learn that Joss Whedon is bald, and slightly plain-looking.

My mental image of him was entirely formed by his works and the kinds of people who enjoy them.

I looked at the wiki article about this
Basically Joss and his brothers felt like doing something during the strike and came up with this and did it for cheap because that was the easiest way to do it by themselves
