At least in parts of Texas, anyway.

    Fair enough.

But the one I was at in Seattle was not so great. I don't remember what franchise it was.

We watched WALL-E at the Alamo Drafthouse. It's kind of hard to eat and watch a highly visual movie. I probably should have ordered something more along the lines of a finger food.

Also I don't understand why in GTA IV, you don't have the right to defend yourself or others. A police officer was just trying to arrest this guy, and the guy pulls out a fucking Glock and shoots the cop three times in the stomach. A police officer on the other side of the street (He had just pulled up in a cruiser in order to take the would-be arestee away) opens fire, and is also shot, but not completely incapacitated. So I figure I'll help these cops out and pull out my gun and shoot the guy in the back. So then I put my gun away and start to call an ambulance when the second cop gets on his feet... and immediately starts shooting at me. :|

If we're comparing it to the one movie theater I've been to in Canada, then yes, yes they do.

Also, James, I'm disappointed; you were here, and didn't even bother PMing me?

I'm looking for a road paving material that isn't oil based or outrageously expensive. Anyone know anything?

But I'm looking for a paving material.

If it's any consolation I didn't PM anyone. I was only down for a few days with my aunt and cousin, so I wasn't very mobile. We basically saw Foo, went to a few malls, and left :P

    That was my thought too.

I'm fishing around on google and striking out. It seems like the only experiments in paving materials are being done to produce water permiable pavement to help urban areas control runoff.

I didn't say it was a good paving material, but your other non-oil-based option is concrete, and when the water gets inside the concrete and freezes, you're much more fucked than you would be with gravel.

I lived for four years in Rochester, NY. "Snowing" was the least of the hellish weather.

Wikipedia tells me that a reinforced concrete pavement can be skimmed with a thin layer of asphalt, making it more durable and cheaper in the long run than pure asphalt paving even in areas with harsh winters.

The methodology they use with the coating shunts the water away from the concrete, preventing frost heaves.

A 3 cm coat of asphalt uses less than the all asphalt paving we are using right now.

Apparently the concrete core is more durable and resistant to frost heaves than pure asphalt roads. It just needs to be protected from road salt and weathering.

    More expensive up front.

I’m questioning your choice, not your favourites. Psychedelic gets kinda hard to listen to after a while—stuff like Amon Düül in particular, but even the more mainstream rock seems like I’d need to be a drug user to enjoy it.

Frost heaves happen on asphalt paved roads. I don't know that a coating will actually stop it from happening.

    Oh, yeah, absolutely.

I mean, if you do it right. No one ever does it right, though.

Seriously, our roads would last way longer if we'd allow them to sit for the week or so necessary for the asphalt to set. But we won't do that, because it would inconvenience people.

Apparently the concrete is more resistant to heaving, provided it is protected from the elements.

Reinforced concrete cored roads may be beyond the technical ability of the local road department.
