As part of our ongoing efforts to improve forum performance, we will be migrating to new servers within the week (perhaps on the weekend). Once we finalize the actual date and time, a notice will be posted here at least 4 hours prior to "go time". We expect a fairly long maintenance period of approximately 1-2 hours during the move.
The move to new servers is happening tonight at somewhere around 1amMIDNIGHT EST. There will be a significant period of downtime (30 minutes to 2 hours). Wish us luck!
Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
So my boyfriend has decided he wants a DS game to play while he's waiting around to pick me up for work. However, his taste in videogames is... rather limited.
Things the game can not have:
Lots of precision jumping. He played God of War and gets frustrated with the platforming aspects.
Obviously turn-based combat. He's fine with disguised turn-based, like in City of Heroes, but nothing with menus for combat.
High difficulty level. Think super, super-casual gamer here. If he gets frustrated, he just quits, and then we're out the price of a game.
Too long an opening sequence. He just quits.
Things that would be good:
Long/Lots of replay value.
Simple combat, but lots of it.
Not too much reading.
Not too cutesy, although exceptions can be made.
Games that he really likes:
Games he enjoys before getting irritated with them:
City of Heroes
God of War
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
If anyone has suggestions for a game that would suit him, I'd love to hear him. Also appreciated would be suggestions for "gateway" videogames that might help him branch out into other genres.
TL;DR - Suggestions for DS games for my patience- and taste-challenged significant other.
