Wow this has been crazy. Thank you all for participating and enjoying yourselves, without everyone's support this would have never taken off like it did. More directly I'd like to thank the assistance of Pure Buttons, lordthanda, Moe Fwacky, jonxp, Big Red, the rest of the excellent Enforcers, whoever the hell actually built the case, Recruit, and the Sheraton Security, We've learned a lot this year on how to better organize this for the next coming PAX, and I hope to see everyone playing again. I have several special ideas floating in my head that I'm going to work on during the next year.

For those new to this, if you haven't ordered your buttons yet, then you most likely not recieve them in time for PAX. Sorry, try again next year, we'll still be friends.

The concept:

Alright, here's the idea guys. We need a form of identification for forumers at PAX. As Moe has suggested, custom made buttons with our name/avatar or whatever would be a great option, but to extend this idea and make it more Penny Arcade-ish I suggest that each get a bunch of buttons and trade one for one when we meet each other. Thus making it a game of "gotta catch them all".




Frequently asked questions:

Q. How will I know if I've gotten all the buttons?ki
There will be a document made containing all the artwork and forum names so you know who you're trading with, and who you have left.

Q. Cool! How do I get my stuff on it?
[STRIKE]Easy, fill this form out. Include either the original artwork or a picture of the finished button (I suggest original artwork only, because we can crop it down, but this is up to whoever will be doing the printable checklist. Please let me know, and I'll change it!).[/STRIKE] The form for the check off list is closed. If you didn't add your name then you are too late.

Q. I don't see my name/pic in the OP list. Oh noes, what do I do!
If you think you've been overlooked then send a PM to redhalo. He's slow to update and smells funny, but he will get you added.

Q. I ordered my buttons, move me to the "Invested Players" list now!
Pics or it didn't happen. Seriously. With the number of people playing and the ease of anonymity it is likely and known for people to want to be moved on word alone when nothing was done on their part. Also, this is to motivate people into participating more thoroughly since the idea is to bring us together socially.

Q. How do I get a button? What are these "bonus buttons"?
The buttons fall in to two categories, the avatar or "main" buttons, and the "bonus" variety. While there are no set rules for trading them, these general guidelines are encouraged:
- Avatar buttons should be traded for other Avatar buttons, with no challenges or criteria expected to be fulfilled other than you are both Buttoneers.
- Bonus buttons may (or may not!) have special criteria for receiving them, and may go to people outside the button game who fulfill the criteria. This could be a challenge ("What is the flightspeed of an unladen swallow?"), a requirement ("You must be a member of the CEOs of America Club"), or one may just ask for one (remember to say "Please").

Q. I want to make people stand on their head, nude, while singing "Yankee Doodle" to receive my buttons! Can't I do that?
It is perfectly within your rights, but don't expect many people to trade their buttons back with you.

Q. With 55,000+ people, how will I find you all to get my trade on?
Many if not most of us will be attending various community ran events. Feel free to stop by the Pre-PAX Dinner, the Pre-PAX Movie, Pre-PAX Pubcrawl, or the Pre-PAX Breakfast. We'll be there in droves.

Q. I want to make sure I get EVERY SINGLE BUTTON I can, will there be a Buttoneer meetup?
YES. We plan to meet immediately following the closing of PAX in the Sheraton Hotel's Lobby. We'll be easy to find, there's gonna be a lot of buttons around. We can finish off our trade lists, and say our goodbyes.

Q. You said this is a game! How do we know who won?
Everyone is a winner! Especially you! You're so special, you know that?

Q. I heard about some secret button project that would be for...
HUSH! That is not to be spoken of here. See BigRed at the start of PAX (he'll be near/in the BYOC area) and he'll take care of you. Bring your buttons. Please do give him time to check all of the BYOCers in before you storm his location.

Q. Will I be able to fly with my buttons. Are they considered an instrument of death?

And as for needing more than 100... I'm not going to order anymore... As long as I get most of the irc people, and some of the early adopters, I will be happy Besides... there's not going to be many that I wont be able to get... and plus, this is assuming that everyone with designs with participate and not flake...

I am not ordering more than 100. It was already $9 shipping for that bunch, and lots and lots of people only have 50 buttons so it is entirely possible I won't be able to get every button anyway. As long as I have traded most of my buttons, I'll be happy.

I thought long and hard (kekeke) over the weekend, and I think I'm going to stay with 50. Why? Because I don't know where I'm going to store 100 effing pins after PAX. I don't even know where I am putting 50... or what I'll actually DO with them.

To expound upon that, because I keep getting asked, If you have a design, for god sake post it. Just because you ordered them and added yourself to the google doc list you don't automatically get moved to the invested list, you need to post a picture. We are not looking for people to tell us how much they are participating, we are looking for people to show us. It's what brings us socially together.
