transfering files/itunes to new pc

there has to be a better way than putting file after file manually onto a CD and uploading it onto my new pc.

itunes is a fickle bastard and i just want get my music across gruhhhhhhhh

also, my new pc+itunes doesn't seem to recognise my ipod at all

I believe the songs on your iTunes Library are stored in files on your harddrive, My Music-->iTunes-->Artists. It should be as simple as copying and pasting these folders onto an external harddrive or a thumb drive with a lot of memory.
