Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

So Sigur Ros is a pretty good band

Bibble who cares about the language.

They invented a pseudo-language so that even to people who speak icelandic/norwegian/whatever, it would still be gibberish.

Sometimes they play their shit backwards so that even to people who speak icelandic/norwegian/whatever, it would still be gibberish.

It's not about the language or the words.

An umlaut is when you form the "ee" sound while your lips form another sound.

Are we happy? We know what it is. Let's get over it.

Sigur Ros is not about Umlauts, it's about the best thing ever.

    Worst interview ever.
    http://www.npr.org/blogs/bryantpark/2007/10/when_good_interviews_go_bad.html

The end is kind of sad too, for all people who believed they made up a language.

Sigur Ros's most recent album was okay, but I was hoping they would completely abandon their more quiet, scenic style and move into the direction of awesome destructive post-rock, which they have proved they are very capable of:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8jmLec_wEc

Just wait up to the 2 minute mark and you will see the beginnings of one of the craziest build ups which eventually reaches a godly, epic climax.

A lot of it isn't really Icelandic either.

Just a dude essentially singing whatever phonetic sounds he wants while some nice music plays.

Listen you guys, there's this band known as Sigur Ros.

They are awesome. Wikipedia says they are an "Icelandic post-rock band with melodic, classical and minimalist elements" This is not important at all. All you need to know is they're fucking incredible and better than you at everything.

You know what, fuck it. They sing in crazy, and "Vonlenska"(A pseudo-language they fucking made up). Sometimes the words are backwards. This amplifies the awesome.

They have eight albums. These albums are:
    Von
    von brigði
    Ágætis byrjun
    ( )
    Takk...
    Heima
    Hvarf-Heim
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust

These albums all contain more awesome than all of you combined.

They were also used in the recent Prince of Persia trailer. This was I guess because Ubisoft realized that they needed an extra shot of the best thing on earth and used them.

If you try to listen to their music and feel like you're high, it just means you're listening to them right.

Some people don't like them. These people are known as tools. I have a friend who doesn't like them because the indie kids like them. That's right, she doesn't like them because it's cool to like them because it's not cool to like them. Once again, tools.

If you don't like Sigur Ros you're a tool too.

Let's all talk about how great they are. Though I guess if you have other bands that are also less known and equally as awesome you maybe can talk about them.

I'll take this as an invitation to post other overly long music from almost Scandinavian countries.

    Moonsorrooooooow

    Aurinko ja Kuu

    Tuuleen Tytar / Soturin Tie

    and the raddest, Pakanajuhla

the last one is cool because it's all happy sounding and shit but they lyrics are really bitter and about the christianization of scandinavia. Bad translation follows:
