Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
So Sigur Ros is a pretty good band

Don't joke around about that.
I'm taking little pre-filled baggies since I won't have time to pleasure everyone individually at PAX.
Well, we aim to please. Thanks.
According to a couple of my female friends, it's the liberal arts major's version of the yawning-shoulder-grab.

edit: also, I saw them about.. 8 or 9 years ago maybe, when they supported Radiohead. All I recall was some guy playing his guitar with a bow and singing into its pickups. Just recently I saw a video of them playing Svefn-g-Englar and realised it was that, and suddenly it was the best thing ever.

Great video.

There is a point where it feels like the game was designed specifically for that one song.

I still need to get that. Sigur Ros would be badass in that game, from what I've seen.
Holy fuck that's awesome.

In other news, my studio put on a composition recital a few years ago of arrangements for percussion ensemble and Glossoli was one of the tunes we performed.
but I like it
Two things.
One: Have you listened to much Glass, Reich, Adams, or other minimalistic composers?
Two: How are you classifying Sigur Ros in your mind? Classical, minimalist, rock? Post-rock is a really weird mix of romantic/pre-romantic/"pop-contemporary"(Think Whitacre) and Rock. And really if you're wanting them to be classical then they'll sound unsophisticated, and if you're wanting them to be rock they'll sound completely not connected to anything.

I don't mean to get too academic, maybe they're just not my cup of tea. I want to like them though.
To answer your second question, I don't really classify them as anything. If I had to compare them to anyone, I hear hints of Aloha, maybe some Bjork, The Verve, Arts & Crafts-type stuff, but that's a stretch too.
