besides visuals, which were nice and all, what did you guys like about Sunshine? I found it boring and cliche, if pretty.

I just loved every aspect of the movie. Plot, acting, score, visuals, the overall feel and atmosphere. I watch it again and again and find myself breathless every time. This (Sunshine) and the Fountain are the greatest moments I've had in a theater.

I'm actually about to watch the fountain again with the commentary I downloaded.

just didn't really click with Sunshine. oh well.

I too was disappointed given the immediate talent of Garland and Boyle...intriguing story that fails to follow through.

Someone should make a DVD release awareness thread as well.

I was actually thinking of offering to help Gim out and do that and add it to these threads. I didn't offer because if I didn't come through I'd feel like an ass, but it tends to be something I follow anyway.

Saw the new Guy Ritchie film Rocknrolla (trailer). If you've seen any of his previous films (lockstock, snatch etc) then you've seen this one already.

  • BalefuegoBalefuego Registered User regular
It's pretty safe to say that Matthew Vaughn was the real talented one of the two

He is the only director who can get away with making the same movie, over and over again... at least in my opinion.

Burn After Reading is all kinds of awesome.

Because 9% think it's too high, and shouldn't be cut! 9% of respondents could not fully
get their arms around the question. There should be another box you can check for, "I
have utterly no idea what you're talking about. Please, God, don't ask for my input."

Gah! Did no one see "Oh Brother Where Art Thou"?

  • setrajonassetrajonas Registered User
Just watched Burn After Reading a few hours ago, acting was great all around. I thought Clooney was actually a little weak in the beginning, trying a little too hard, but then he turned much better for the middle and end.

From what I've heard, the trailers make it out to be a spoof of espionage films? If that's really the case, ignore them. It's nothing at all like that. It's the same movie the Coens have been making for forever, ie a couple of guys get into things way over their heads and shit happens. In other words, excellent.

Imdb: George Clooney practiced his singing for weeks, but in the end his singing voice was dubbed.

    Pitt + Clooney = Oceans.

    Obviously.

Also I don't really understand saying "I like Coen comedies but thought Fargo sucked" as if Fargo wasn't a comedy. It was certainly a dark, dark comedy, but it was a comedy.

Also also, Burn After Reading is another great entry into the illustrious line of Coen Brothers "nothing happens all over the place" films. The payoff to the whole Clooney building something in his basement subplot was priceless.

Eh, I was referring to your post right above mine, I know the original line was "her".

    While we're quoting the movie:
    "Appearances can be.... deceptive."

"We have your shit. It is secure. Your shit is secure."

Yea, basically any time Brad Pitt opens his mouth.

  • FencingsaxFencingsax Registered User regular
Brad Pitt was pretty fucking awesome. "You think that's a Schwinn!" "I am very fucking surprised he did not give us the money!"

Oh man, Burn After Reading is so good.

Not Big Lebowski good but close I think.

Lakeview Terrace is about a black cop who hates the fact that his neighbors are an interracial couple and terrorizes them. Sounds like shock value to me. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson? Ehh...

I need to see Burn After Reading. Looks pretty good.

And throw me in the "Sunshine is an amazing movie" crowd. I LOVED that movie.
