Karl Rove said the McCain ads went to far. When you ask to have the ads' dishonesty proven to you, on a case by case basis, you're saying that it takes more to convince you that the ads are fucked up than it took Karl goddamn Rove.

The problem in '04 is that he too too long to enter the race.

This time around I'm guessing he stayed out because of Clinton being such a string force in there. Ideally he'd need a year when there isn't some other uber-strong personality, so that he could take the time to introduce himself to the nation.

I'd still be happy with him as SoD. I say that as some one who will probably end up working for the DoD (fingers crossed) under the coming administration.
