Using QoS to reduce latency

So, I'm in a co-op. I live with ~12 people and we all share one cable internet connection. As you might imagine, this leads to some slowdowns.
Now, my internet use is actually pretty modest--I don't use a lot of bandwidth. I do, however, like to do some gaming in my rare spare moments, so I'd like to get my latency down as low as possible. I've got DD-WRT installed on the router, and I know I'm the only person with any latency requirements in the house, so it should be ok to carve out some section of the bandwidth to prioritize for myself.

So I went ahead, turned on QoS, and gave my MAC address 'premium' status. That helped a little, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do. Thoughts?
