I didn't say there was anything inherently wrong with doing that. I was just saying what I thought it looked like. Since I like the XMB, I applaud the change, though I pretty well don't like coverflow, so that part of the change can bite it.

I think a 3D Castlevania (that isn't a one on one fighter) could be very good. With games like Devil May Cry and whatnot out there, the developing skill exists to create a good 3D third person adventure. I think the problem is making it a good 3D third person adventure that still feels like Castlevania. None of the 3D iterations of this series have had that "Castlevania feel". With any luck, they'll make it 2D.
