I got a story for you, Pony.

About four and a half years ago I started having problem upon problem over the span of a month or two:

I was having weak spells, I was constantly dehydrated and having to go to the bathroom way too much, and my eyesight started going bad. I started to feel shitty, like I was coming down wtih a bug or something, and found that I couldn't stomache much at once or I'd vomit it up. Then, really early one morning, I woke up with a nasty pain in my left side (I think it was left, anyway) that kicked in if I took more than shallow breaths.

I finally had the sense to get some help, and I called 911. They asked some questions and looked me over, then brought me to the hospital where I was told I was diabetic and at the time of my arrival I had a blood sugar of around 950. That's roughly the average glucose level of 10 people. Apparenetly someone with blood sugar that high should be in a diabetic coma at that point.

Evidently my pancreas crapped out on me, and so I've been insulin dependant ever since.

they fuckin took my blood sugar every 4 hours

god damn fings full of holes total shit

least im not dibetic i guess!

    could be worse

My blood sugar is apparently a little more jumpy than usual. it goes down pretty quickly but it can go up just as fast, so I have to pay attention to my insulin whenever I'm eating.

I honestly don't mind the shots, it's just annoying having to find different places to do the injections because the skin toughens up and starts to bruise if I use the same general area too frequently.

I've actually fainted a few times after I had my seizure

    I hate it a lot

it's not anything to do with the faint itself, it's when you come to and everyone's looking over you and you don't know what the fuck is up

    and everyone's like

    OMG ARE YOU OKAY

and you just want them to go the fuck away and stop looking at you all vulnerable and out of it

I think I have a thing about people seeing me vulnerable

alzheimers and shit doesnt scare me really because I know I have a long time before I need to start worrying about it

abstractly, sure, it's absolutely terrifying, but in terms of what frightens me now, I tend to be more concerned with accidents or horrible grotesque disease. Also MRSA.

    hospital food in this country?

    not so bad

    tax dollas at work

The stuff they gave me was pretty crappy, but I had to be eating hospital quality low-carb food, what with my blood sugar and all. There's really no room for flavor there.

to have that taken away by a disease that can strike pretty much anytime that nobody knows a whole lot about, that nobody even quite knows if you have until they do the autopsy on your malfunctioning dead brain, is quite literally the worst thing i can think of

the worst part is you have no idea if it's happening to you, you just lose your entire identity and don't know who your family and friends are
