I am getting tired of people saying they think Sarah Palin is an awesome lady because she can shoot.

Like it's a big deal for a girl to know how to hunt.

If she used a bow I'd really be impressed.

Or if she hunted the most dangerous game.

warthogs with a switchblade, then I'd vote for her

From the back of a helicopter? Yeah, that's pretty damn impressive.

Is the ultimate goal of public financing taking it for its own sake, or reducing the influence of moneyed special interests? There's certainly an argument to be made that Obama feels the latter is the true boon to public financing, particularly given that quote.

edit: in any case, since it's not the Obama dealbreaker for you, I'll drop it. How about that wolfhunter Sarah, eh? *wink*

See my problem is I read for platitudes, i look for those words that alter the meaning. I am against X, and would never do X provided I could convince my opponent to also refrain from doing X as well as make concessions.

What the average American has heard is I am against X and because my opponent would not work with me I am forced to do X.

What I heard was I am going to keep my options open and do X if its better for me, and then shift the blame somewhere else.

What you heard could be something completely different.

Personally I am curious as to see the effects of Obama's policies. I've been hearing quite a bit of talk of layoffs if he is elected to prepare for the changes his policies will bring. Regardless we will all find out tomorrow who is going to be screwing up this country for the next four years.

If I was kidnapped, woke up in a lab, told they were going to replace my vocal cords with those of Tony Jay, and lock me in a sound booth until the day I die I would look those bastards right in the eye and say "Alright you sons of bitches lets do this. This one is for the children."

Going back to the gun issue, exactly why does anyone want a CCW or a semi-auto rifle? What is your purpose in owning it?

Unless you really suck, generally a standard rifle or shotgun would suffice against any small force. If you've got something going on that one of those two will not be able to adequately handle, you're probably pretty screwed anyway.

CCW self defense. Semi-auto rifle because they are fun to shoot and in case the shit hits the fan.

There is no real point in banning military style assault rifles considering they are not commonly used in crimes. As in department of justice studies show less than 6% of inmates have ever even owned one, and they are used in less than 1% of all gun crimes.

In 1994 12 cops were killed with firearms other than handguns. This includes pump shotguns, bolt action rifles, and "assault rifles"

in 2005 a year after the ban sunset and people could get assault rifles easily again that number was 8. Keep in mind thats not 8 officers killed by assault rifles, thats 8 officers killed by any gun that is not a hand gun.

The long and short of it is that gun legislation has largely targeted the firearms that are not used to commit crimes, and are used primarily by weekend hobbyiest. That really is the major reason people are up in arms about gun legislation. It targets the law abiding citizen, and ignores the criminal.

And if Palin can hit a wolf from a helicopter that is pretty damn impressive.

Is it really that impressive to fire into a pack of wolves being herded by the vehicle you're firing from?

If she knew how to hunt the old fashioned way it kind of would be, because anyone can do it the way most people hunt now. It's less hunting than an exercise in outsmarting an animal that is incapable of rational thought.

Aren't helicopters relatively slow and low flying? And the wolves had no cover? And they don't shoot to kill, just to maimandeventuallymakeitdie?

Just a sidenote I guess, because yeah hitting a moving target from a helicopter is usually pretty impressive. For anyone. Not just girls.

Hunting wolves is stupid. They have utterly terrible meat and aren't nearly as overpopulated as deer, which provide lots of delicious meat.

I could go for some deer jerky right now.

That's one thing you can't really get in this godless blue state unless you know the right people.

The gun thing is a loser in this country and democrats need to catch on to the fact that the party has espoused a fundamentally misguided line of thought on firearms regulation.

Its not smart--its a wedge issue.

This thread has become the retarded offspring of D&D's Presidential Election thread. It is the Trig Palin of threads, if you will.
