Tell you what, Canadians. You take Seattle and Buffalo (you've practically invaded them anyway) and we'll take care of slaughtering Quebec's citizens and processing their oil and natural gas.

And no givsies backsies on Buffalo!

We can give them Saskatchewan since, I believe, it already has the highest per capita First Nation population in Canada.

But SK and MB are the two provinces expected to easily weather the current economic storm with mimimal damage (everybody always needs wheat).

The coalition is a plan by the Conservatives to call another election, further deface the other parties for their shear incompetence and seize more control over the country, potentially the majority they tried to take last time.

And the other parties are all playing into their hand. Being that I support the Conservatives, it makes me chuckle.

no harper is just dumb and went too far and got slapped the fuck down

Yeah, Harper is anything but dumb. But to each their own.

    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
  • no u

Harper is so smart that he publicly called 'unfair!' on something that he tried to do himself a few years ago. Then he called it 'undemocratic'. He also approved a stimulus package proposal that contained no stimulus. Now, he's brough upon the demise of his own government. He's so smart that he just appears dumb, but underneath lurks a cunning genius of a man.

    I wouldn't say that he's dumb.

I'd just say that he's evil.

Oh oh oh, let's give them Quebec!

I actually wrote an essay to this effect for my civics class back in gr 10, tell the French to go back to France so we dont have to deal with their whining about us invading their culture, and give Quebec to the Natives so they can set up their own judicial system (which at the time they were pushing for) and therefore we wouldn't have to deal with their whining either. Got 100%.

Also, should be mentioned that in Canada we don't vote for a prime minister, so this is entirely legitimate, especially due to the minority situation because in a minority the prime minister isn't supposed to be the person whose party has the most seats but rather the person who can best garner the support of the house. Also, this is hella common in European countries, so I dont really get what all the hooplah is about.

Except, you know, the Bloc will probably have a fair bit of power in the coalition and therefore more extras for Quebec. Although some people think it may actually get them to shut up and start working in favour of Canada, but I doubt it.

Yeesh. I hope you don't still believe that Quebecers are the same as the French. That'd be like telling the Americans to go back to England.

I realize they are different, I lived in Montreal for 3 years, and visited France fairly frequently when I lived in England, the actual French are much less retarded than the Quebecers.

"So you're saying, that despite the fact that you are perfectly capable of speaking English, you won't serve me in your store unless I speak to you in French?"

What exactly would be the point of setting up an aboriginal judicial system in Quebec when there is such a small population there?

That is the most retarded idea ever.

I said give Quebec to the aboriginals. IE, stuff them all there and let them have their own setup. Mostly just because you can't have two sets of laws for different people who live in close proximity. Just doesn't make sense in a country in which the judicial system is supposed to be treating us equally. At least there then they can set up their own provincial laws, sure they'd still have to obey the federal laws, but it'd give them more control.

And yes, I realize its a ridiculous idea and infringes their rights. I just wanted to screw around in that class because I mean... It's civics... It's that class they give to the teachers who aren't competent enough to teach anything else (other than Careers which is even more bullshit)

  • VorusVorus Registered User
so you want to take special privileges away from the french in quebec and instead give privileges to the aboriginals that you would deport there?

In my high-school civics and careers each took up half a semester and so they were smooshed into one horrible mandatory class. I don't know if that's how it's done all over.

dion is resigning for sure, he has announced it already and the better candidates are already lining up to take his place

and the coalition may work out ok for canada as a whole, but as far as the west is concerned this is the non-right fucking with democracy and just worsening the anti-ottawa sentiments

Yeah, thats the same way it happened in my high school. It was ridiculous, at least Civics had some form of fact behind it, Careers was just like "IN THE FUTURE NOBODY WILL WORK FOR JUST ONE COMPANY BUT EVERYONE WILL BE THEIR OWN COMPANY AND JUST DO EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE"

I thought Alberta was allotted the same amount of seats by population as everywhere else? (except Quebec, and a couple maritime provinces, who get more due to some confederation agreements.)

Having the right amount of members doesn't mean Alberta is represented all of the time, especially since we're the economic engine of the country.
