While the previous thread spiraled I watched some more Natsume Yuujinchou. Awesome stuff.

Also reread some Berserk. It never gets old watching Gutts cleave through a bunch of stuff.

I'm guessing some mod likes E7 quite a bit. All these thread title changes made this thread a bit hard to locate.

I really, really, REALLY hate those flashy subtitles that are just pure egowank.

    Yeah, they're pretty irritating.

I find them insulting too, it's not like it's hard to figure out that they are doing one of their special attacks what with them yelling a name out, but the fansubbers seem to think otherwise.

Honestly I don't mind flashy subs at all. Naturally there's a point where they become unreadable, but if it doesn't reach that mark it doesn't bother me.

Excellent episode. The series is very quality. The pacing in this episode was great. I'm really impressed by the animation this show has got going.

I largely agree, but the ones which really piss me off are where they're stylized to the point that they can't even be read.

Edit: Also, yay! New FMA and Berserk this week.

You know what's been bothering me for a while? Karaoke subs.

No, I'm not talking about how they clutter the screen or how flashy the syllables are animated, but the way they're timed. You don't show a new line when the line is being sung. You show them beforehand so that people know what the fuck they're supposed to sing. How is this hard to grasp? It isn't a big deal if it's plain subbed, but if you're going the extra mile and animate, color and time the syllables, then at least do it right.

I've always found it silly that they have 3 different lines present on the screen usually (by lines I mean the english, kanji, and whatever else that is). And karaoke effects for all 3 lines.

And yeah, they're never done for actual karaoke, they're done in an attempt to show off.

Add Macross Zero and Frontier to that list. Appleseed kinda doesn't count because it was purely 3D.

Taking miniature painting commission work! PM for samples, or check the art thread.

Macross F had passable 3d animation.
Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen uses 3d for instrument playing, and, while not perfect, it is preferable to the alternative of panning across still shots.
Apparently, Miyazaki's recent films have used some 3d animation.

Is there any word around about the new FMA movie that's coming out next year? Heard about it from my student, and am curious about it now.

Skypeia is long, boring and only a few interesting things happen. Nothing that has happened in that arc has been significant to later arcs.

It's actually going to be a new series. Most likely it will be a reboot, only this time it will follow the manga instead of coming up with its own story later on.

    Well, except...
    Spoiler:

But yeah. Enel and Viper are basically the only two interesting characters of that entire arc.

While the anime itself wasn't great, the remake of Appleseed looks awesome and uses copious amounts of 3d.
