Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Skype, Wifi phones, headsets, and gaming!
Alright... where to start.
I have been wanting a wifi phone to use with skype, since I use skype over the computer a lot for voice calls, and using a handset would be much easier for me.
I was looking at
this Belkin one and
this Netgear one.
The belkin is more in my price range, but it has horrible battery life, from everything I am reading (like, an hour batter life), but the netgear has a 4 hour battery life.
Are wifi phones up to snuff, or would these both be pretty dissapointing phones? I am mainly getting the phone because using skype to call Canada from the US is much, much cheaper than using a regular phone.
Another item I have been wanting is a headset to use for gaming (and skype). If I was to choose between a headset or one of the wifi phones in the same range, which would be better? I would need the headset to be very comfortable so I could lay down while I use it, for when I am talking. Is it better to get a USB headset, or one that uses the microphone and headphone ports? I am not sure where to start looking for a good headset, so any recommendations would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone knows of any better wifi phones that arn't too expensive, that would be great too.
Edit: Another thing, the headset has to work with mac too, since I use skype on my macbook pro (and bootcamp for the games)
