Alternative Printer Drivers for Vista?

Hey folks,

I've got an old Lexmark z43 printer, but there's no driver support for Vista for it. Does anyone know of alternative drivers for Vista that I might try? Something like the alternative video card drivers that people have created for ATI and Nvidia is what I'm thinking of. My brief google searches haven't turned up much of anything.

    I used to do support for Lexmark and the official company line was that anyone calling in with printers outside of driver support were screwed. You could try an XP driver, though that was very hit and miss. I mainly worked with the lasers, so I can't give you any ink specific hints.
