I thought this joke was funnier in the manga. I like the quick setup and instant punch-line thing he has going. It keeps me guessing and I laugh at my own expectations as much as I do the actual joke.
A lot of people say it goes on for too long, and I guess the pace would be annoying if you were reading it from week to week. It's one of those things that are a lot better when you can read it all the way through in one go, like BLEACH recently.
Yeah, it takes too long. Some jokes are funnier in the anime, but ones like this are better in the manga.
Matter of fact, I can't stand the whole Thriller Bark arc in the anime. It just feels way too slow.
Fair enough.
I just like the joke either way, but the over-exaggerated color, sound and music really did it for me in that clip.
Opinions on
Fairy Musketeer Akazukin
I found it to be a pretty interesting show all in all, though it may not look it at first glance.
Also:
It was mostly disliked for the lack of connections to the main quest.
Honestly I enjoyed the Skypiea arc a lot, watching Enel getting his comupance was satisfying as all hell, but it was definitely one of One Piece's weaker arcs.
Also, funny one piece clips you say?
No! Mr. Snowman!

I do agree with Thriller Bark being too long in the anime.
In the manga it was an offbeat, enjoyable ride, but in the show it's been dragged out too much.
I skipped almost all of the anime portion of it, and only came back for Zorro's standout moment.
EDIT: SNOWMAN PUNCH!
AAH MR. SNOWMAN!
Finished? Ha.
Ahahaha.
Also, one clip which was vastly superior in the anime was the unveiling of Sogeking. Mostly because of the theme song.
SOGEKING!
YES
Damn I could kick myself for not posting that
The song totally makes the character.
Okay, you got me. Ridiculous sentai opening was hilarious.
Hahahahaha, yes.
But yeah, if you want to check out any parts of the anime, it's mostly a matter of picking out the good fights.
The only early ones I'd bother checking out are Arlong and Crocodile (part III). Skypia I'm not huge on, but even when liking it, none of the fights except the first part of the Luffy/Enel fight, and pretty much any of the fights with Viper (Wiper?) are particularly good. They're too interspaced/cut away from one another to be coherent and quick. Eneis Lobby suffers from the same problem.
I mean, really, almost any of Luffy's fights are worth watching once, but those are the ones I remember as standing out.

I hate One Piece, but that was hilarious.
Nope. We're in post-Thriller Barque filler right now.
If you've seen Gurren Lagann, watch the first series of Ippo because it is excellent and you'll be good for the current series.
If you haven't seen Gurren Lagann, watch Gurren Lagann.
Speaking of. I've seen FLCL a bunch of times, but I've never bought the series. I can't find it for sale, legitimately, anywhere. Know of anywhere I can find it?

How bad could it be?
The DVDs aren't in print any more, so they're expensive and hard to find.
The $20 "complete series" offered on Amazon? Guaranteed to be bootlegs.
Also, news on that Eureka 7 movie. Something in Newtype was written, someone translated it, though, dunno how accurate it is.
"Renton and Eureka are 5 years old at the start and Dominic is their Tutor. Eureka gets taken away by the military at some point and Renton goes in search for her several years later."
The movie is set in a world where mankind has been at war with the mysterious lifeforms known as Image for over half a century. Renton joined the battleship Gekko-go as a member 8 years ago to search for the kidnapped Eureka. Now, in the battlefield, he will meet her again.
Dominic is supposed to be a teacher to Renton and Eureka when they lived in Warsaw 8 years ago. One day after telling them about the legend surrounding the Snow Moon Flowers, he vanishes. Eureka is described as a young girl whose body reacts strangely to direct sunlight. She's captured by the military and kept as their most guarded secret. To get her back, he entered the military. 8 years later, Renton will enter the battlefield with his favorite mech Nirvash.
The article goes on to specify that the story is brand new, and while the names and circumstances might be the same, the worldview and scenario is completely original. It also mentions that while there will be many new animated scenes in the movie, "by rearranging the scenes from the TV series footage, a brand new story and drama can be shown."
Hyperbole aside, it's a really good show. Likeable characters, pretty amazing animation except for episode 4 (the guest episode), and strong themes that develop well. I'd never really watched mecha stuff before, and I loved it.
Yeah. I just never wanted to drop like $60 on 6 episodes, so I never jumped on any of the releases. And now it's just plain not available.
<3. The first book's finally on sale in the U.S. so now I need to find a local comicbook shop and purchase a copy.
There are a few instances where the padding works but this is rarely the case. One bit where I thought the extra bit added to the scene was in Water 7 (SPOILERS. Seriously)
Yeah I also just wanted to post this because it's awesome, but this scene is shorter in the Manga. The fight essentially ends after Blueno's Rankyaku, and Sanji hits the wall instead of sliding to the end of the carriage. So the scene of Sogeking defending Robin, Blueno throwing Sanji around and Robin restraining him are all added. Which I think add an extra bit of gravitas to the scene in CP9's dominance over the Strawhats at this stage.
Also the Sogeking unveiling was hilarious. I never thought they would have a theme song but it's all so ridiculous it works. I can't really imagine anyone else but Yamaguchi Kappei as Usopp.
Gotta say, I'm not buying what that article is claiming they can do with the existing animation, and the "new" story sounds a bit... off somehow.
Edit: Busy watching the new Minami-ke... holy crap the animation is terrible. It looks like they're levitating up the stairs.
Edit edit: Ok, that was kind of amusing, looks like I'll give it a shot.

I mean, is it pretty good as many dubs have been lately? Or is it like watching pre-Funi One Piece where it's not even the same?
EDIT: I mean I normally don't care, but the 4Kids One Piece dub kinda soured me on what everyone says is a really great show/manga and I'd rather not hate a good show because of bad luck with companies/dubbing.
I'd say it's more than adequate.
The Gurren Lagann dub is servicable. It doesn't really have any weak performances
But the Japanese dub is one of the best I've ever heard
And I hate saying that because it makes me sound like one of those people who is all "HAIL GLORIOUS NIPPON" but that's just the way it is
Kamina's Japanese voice actor gives the performance of a lifetime, I'm not sure I'll ever hear another as good as that

I have to agree. I tend to watch both the dub and the sub, but with Gurren Lagann the sub hits it so hard out of the park, there can be no comparison. Not that the dub is bad, but the sub is just amazing.
