Ha, I just now got the "Pots" "Post" joke.

    Looks really great printed out!
  • Kevin+R+Brown
I love the design, though I should say:

When I was a kid with an extremely short attention span, I was convinced that Corn Pops were my favorite cereal even though I had never, ever tried them (and my mother wouldn't buy them, due to their sugar content).

    Why?

They had a cartoon cactus on the cover just shooting the Corn Pops right into your face! The lettering (which is the same to this day) also just jumps right out at you:

If you wanted to make a box that jumped right out at kids, I'd just add a few extra touches of flair.

it's not about appealing to kids in the 80s
i specifically went for 1950's style design
which was not about "hey kids, this is extreme cereal!"
it was about wholesome little characters and simple hand lettered fonts like helvetica paired with scripted hand lettered fonts.
look up "50's packaging design" this is my inspiration, you're looking at stuff that started mainly in the 80s and continued on through the 90s

Boys, I'm the oldest whore on the block.

I would buy the fuck out of that cereal

    Thats a pretty awsome project.

Now that Ive seen the pictures I cant help think this would be an awsome "premade gift box" kind of thing. Market it as a toss your gift in the box and boom its wraped kind of thing.

But then you can't tear the wrapping paper open.

    Crap! Youre absolutely right.

And then the kitties wouldnt have anything to play with.

    I retract my previous statement.

    EDIT:

UNLESS the person you are giving the gift to has a fear of disorder/untidyness (Ataxophobia) or paper (Papyrophobia).

On a side note it appears the two fears that have the most names to accompany them are the fear of cats and female genitalia.

We live in a very odd world.

Love the chest hair on the lumberjack. I was wondering why you weren't updating your thread

I half thought it was because you don't want it to reach 100.

My only crit would be to simplify that nose. Too many lines competing and intersecting there I reckon. It's too tight for my liking. Makes my skin crawl.
  • DirtyDirtyVagrant
I'll toss in an agreement about the nose. This is great stuff.

So. Are you going to be locking your own thread? Or is that like a conflict of interests?
  • PROX
These are swank! I think a more fun pattern could have been used for the guy's chesthair. perhaps there's a away to make the top of the fox stand out too. Deep red is hard to use as a background because black just dissapears into it,, perhaps using a white line or negative shape. Or slightly lighter BG.
  • Cristoval
    This thread.

PROX, your avatar is an accurate recreation of my reaction when viewing this thread.

These are lovely but the l-jack's beard bothers me ever-so-slightly. It seems far bigger on the far side of his face.
  • Wassermelone
Does this thread go to 11(1)? Because the art does!

  • DrIanMalcolm
Might just be me, but lumberjack dude's left arm looks a bit too big for his shirt with the way it curves
  • Johannen
The backgrounds almost look like velvet or a carpet of some type. I like the overall look a lot.

these are pictures that i like to look at you should draw more

Agreeing with RubberAC. I'm liking the rich textures of the lumberjack and the smooth, weighty lines on your people.
    Way to go, beavo!
  • Food
Yeah I just want to say that I've always enjoyed your work immensely, but the 50's ish direction that you've been going in for the past few months take the awesomeness to a whole nother level.
