But seriously, the next little while is going to be interesting. There has to be a limit to the amount of bad PR Sony can take until it finally negatively affects them.

With the amount of negative press and opinion they've generated, only one thing can balance it out and save them:

Yeah? Shit, that was quick. When's the PS4 come out?

I'm not sure Nintendo will make one. They are going to buy Sony in five years, after all.

I predict many a usage of, "Son of a submariner!" from those who are cheated out of their PS3.

Er... for any highly sophisticated product, there will inevitably be lemons "out of the box".
true, not only for "highly sophisticated" products, but pretty much any sensitive devices.

I honestly think that if it's so new that it isn't proven reliable yet, then it shouldn't be released to consumers.
This has nothing to do with reliability. If PS3's start failing over the next few weeks/months, then we can start talking about it. Right now, this guy just got really unlucky.

true, bot honestly I think it's impossible for it not to have hardware failures. That's what happens with new technology. I mean look athe the 360. Every single person I know in real life has had to get theirs repaired/replaced except one, and he has his sitting on top of an AC dedicated specifically to the 360, and its's starting to have problems even with that care.

If the ps3 doesn't have a significant amount of hardware failures I will be astonished.

If that happened with my Wii (DOA) I would cry.

It would be really bad if someone paid 11 million dollars for one on Ebay and then it didn't work or got fucked up in transit. What's the insurance cost on an 11 million dollar product, anyway? It has to be at least 4 or 5 bucks.

We can predict the following may have happened:

    - Bad handling from the shipping
    - Bad handling within the store

Playstation 3 fails for having a small 's' in its acronym.

I bought a 360 today so I'd feel good about myself.

The clerk showed me the store's one and only PS3 (just the outside box). It was huge. And it scared me.

When sony had to recall millions of batteries for catching fire and exploding (ok only a few actually exploded). you can't rule that last option out.

I would like to point out that, unless the 360 and PS3 use different sized discs, the PS3 is in fact the larger system. Compare drive size.

I'm not saying the 360 isn't big either, I'm just saying that I thought the box the PS3 came in was rather large. Of course, maybe it's because he was holding up side-by-side with a Wii box.

    Fuck. Fuck.

It's depressing that people are willing to pay 6000 for one. 6 times the value of an already overpriced console, with hardly any notable launch titles.

360's never went for more than 1 or 2 grand did they?

I'm suprised so many people are buying the PS3. I'm wondwering how many are actually planning on keeping it rather than selling it on ebay or something.

I still think the 360 or the Wii will dominate this generation.
