I wasn't 100% sure where to post this, but I'm trying to run an older game in windowed mode (the game in particular is Startopia by muckyfoot from 2001).
There aren't any options in the graphics menu to do it within the game. Alt-Enter doesn't do anything, and adding -w, -window, -windowed at the end of a short cut has no effect. Am I SOL?
Or is there another workaround where I can get an older game to run in a window. I'm using Windows XP.
There is at least one program out there that I've heard of. A Google search for DXWnd revealed: http://www.nynaeve.net/?p=52
I cannot vouch for the quality or cleanliness of the link. Most of the hits on Google pointed to a solution specifically for Maple Story, but you might want to do the Google search yourself and see if you find any prospective links.
I'm 99.999% sure that there was an unofficial patch to Startopia after the fact by one of the developers, but I can't find it. Go look for that; it fixes most stuff.
