Many German fighters during WWII fielded 20mm cannons against the largely .50cal armed Allied fighters who enjoyed a higher rate of fire and larger ammunition complement.

They had an entire airframe to absorb the recoil, that thing must be ridiculous to fire. There were also 37mm cannons on the P-39, and the Germans stuck two flak cannons on Stukas for tank killing. I think the british also put a 75mm gun in something to attack german shipping, but I can't remember what it was.

Fuck I loved the Sherman firefly on uhh... that map that had the river going through the middle from west to east and there was a village and it was in '44 or '45... hmm.
The server I played on was annoying, it was generally full of australian retards who felt that the role of armour was to camp the fuck out of infantry and insisted on playing the pegasus bridge and omaha maps constantly.
