Charactor Generation Question

Ok so I've been bombarded by the people at my local hobby shop to start up a call of cthulhu game, but rather than go with the standard character generation they have I am looking for a way to be able to have them play themselves. I know it has been discussed around these forums I just can't find the thread.

Any help, links, or ideas would be great, thanks guys

    Do interviews with them and find out how fit they are, how knowledgeable about certain things they are, how easily they're able judge other people's feelings, stuff like that.

    Then stat them accordingly.
